Yes, I'm planning an upgrade similar to yours:

60" L x 30" W x 15" H.

I wish I could go a little wider, like yours..but the space I have allocated, just wont permit it.

What do you think of those dimensions ?

I'm also planning to use 3 tunzes just like you:

2 x 6101 (I already have) and I will add a 6201 and have the setup with Tunze rocks, just like you :D

Contrary to yours, I won't setup and island overflow. It will most likely be an external overflow, so all the space is available.

I don't think I will have any sand in it also, similar to Leonardo's setup. I will have only around 100-125 lbs of LR.

I love the look and ease of a shallow-rimless tank.

Nope....

2 x 6105
1 x 6201

On hand for future used:

3 x MP40w
1 x 6201
1 x Tunze Wavebox

Planning something similar??

:D

If u want to sell it, then buy Vortech MP40w instead as it has a very small profile in the tank and the flow is wider too.

For your tank side it will be perfect!! :D

Thanks, good idea.

I have a friend with similar tank width, which I design for her about 2 months back.

Let me see if I can get a picture of it and post here.... :)

Post it bro. Would love to see it.

Very nice tank Ed!

What kind of zeovit reactor is that? Is it automatic or do you have to pump it 2x a day still?

Do you plan on running your Mini PO4 Syringe reactor even with a full zeovit setup?

Do you use the KZ carbon or other?

Good question, I am starting my build now and am going to run a zeovit system on it.

Coral plans looks great Ed :D I'm also a fan of RB Salt, I'm not using anything else. The tank always has a good response after a water change and the parameters are just where I want them to be.
I think the PO4 is coming out of the liverock/sand/PVC etc. The salt itself is lower in PO4. But nothing to worry about, this are very good levels for a tank that's cycling.

Not worried about the PO4 at this moment. This is the 1st time I'm using RBS and so far seems great!!

Glad you like the plan......

Too bad I can't pay you a visit, I would love to see this tank in person to see what more can be done with this size tank. Any room left in the hotel this summer ;)?

Leonardo

Always rooms in the hotel with this economy :rolleye1:

Wow, now that is attention to detail, the plan looks great. You mentioned you planned some corals for the center, any thoughts on these? I'm a fan of keeping the sandbed clean as much as possible (I love acans and chalices but I don't think it looks good to have 30 frags of these all over the sandbed), but a few strategically-placed colorful fungias (plate or tongue corals) would be very cool, as these are corals that naturally appear on open sand flats in the wild.

Thanks mcliffy - yes the plan is to keep the sand bed as clean and open as possible. One of two colorful fungia will defiantly be an option and also thinking of one or two open brain - like maze brain maybe to give it the more natural look??

Check out this website someone posted for me in another forum.

The first 2 pictures of mixture of tables and branching acros is what I have in mind...

Geeze, you've built two tanks in the time it's taken me to build one!

Looks great Ed!

Thanks Robb - well my friend's tank was pretty simple!! Have ask her to take some pictures for me last night and I will post here....

Acans or ricordea on the rock you have to access (to clean the pumps) may be a better choice than SPS. They can blanket the area, and you can lift them out easily without damage.

Good idea marc - will be looking at some cool acan and some ric. Maybe some colorful Zoa as well

What u think??

I would stick with some nice lps for the center Ed. Maybe a nice rainbow Aussie Scolly or lobo. Not a big zoa fan. (even know there are some nice zoas out there)

Hi Ginzo - with your tank size, I think 2 x 6101 should be sufficient as adding 3 Tunze rocks will be difficult for you to scape as your tank is not that wide.

Are you planning any CL??

Also for your tank height, you might want to consider going up 1 - 1.5" as after deducting the base glass and overflow (if you planed to have), you have only about 13" to work with, which could be a little too low IMO :eek2:

If you're planning an external overflow then it's best to hide your stream inside the overflow with a false back!! This way you save money on the Tunze rocks, easy to remove for maintainability and does not limited your aquascaping....

:D

No automatic reactor but heard ATB has one ready for testing :p

Water Quality and Filtration

For my ZEOvit reactor, I will reuse my jam-free I~Aquatic’s ZEOvit Reactor: IZ-818 (Up To 4L of ZEOVit).

I-Zeo01JPG.jpg

This reactor will be feed via a tune-down Eheim 1250 series pump rated at 1200l/h, which will be tone down to match the recommended flow rated.

There is also a section in my sump to place my ZEOCarbon and this should help keep water parameter in line.

ZEOCarbonJPG.jpg

and YES, I plan to run the Mini PO4 Syringe reactor even with a full zeovit setup for the effuent of the Ca Rx. It's actually recommended and common practice in the Zeo forum

:D

Let me know if you need any advice....!! :D

BTW, ATB is going to test run a automatic zeo reactor this few days.... check with Victor :D but I believe the model they're planning for testing can only suit for 1.5 -2L only

Well I don't mind Zoa for colors as long as not too many of them. One cool scolly or lobo will be nice on the sand bed...

Love em' option with the open space huh?? Only thing I got to be careful is not to overfill up and loss that openness at the center !! :p

I'm going for less is more look here !!

14 DAYS CYCLE WITH ZEOVIT? POSSIBLE??

14 DAYS CYCLE WITH ZEOVIT? POSSIBLE??

Yesterday I started off my Zeovit ritual…. for those who is interested, below is my initial dosing as recommended in their website for a quick 14 days cycle so will try it and let everyone knows how it works:

Tips:
Before starting it’s recommended not to use live sand (but nice clean new sand instead) and to ensure all equipments are working, including lights â€"œ YES, lights, as it’s needed to cultivate the bacterial from Day 1 for about 10 hours daily.

SCHEDULE AS FOLLOWS:

Day 1:
• Zeovite: 1.8L (max flow rate of 720 l/h â€"œ on/off every 3 hours) â€"œ exchange out every 6-8 weeks
• ZeoStart2: 72ml daily
• ZeoBac: 36 ml daily
• Sponge Power: 21.6ml daily

Day 2 & 3:
• No dosage

Day 4 - 10:
Continue according to the recommended on the products label till Day 10, which for my tank is as below:

• ZeoStart2: 14ml daily
• ZeoBac: 7 drops daily
• Sponge Power: 7 drops daily

Day 10:
Cleaning crew can go in, including a couple of herbivore fish and some hardy corals, i.e. monti caps.

• ZeoCarbon: 0.7L (in mash bags) is added in Day 10 (exchange out every 4 weeks)

Day 11-14:
Dosage continues as per Day 4 but keep a close watch on Salinity and dKH

Cycle should be done at this stage….and we can continue to add fishes and corals slowly.

Sound simple, right??

Will test water params in two weeks time and keep everyone posted.

I will need some advice as far as the zeovit goes... I know you are the guy to talk too. So I will have some questions for you in the next week!

I like the less is more look too now. I had a crowded reef for a while, and kinda grew out of it.

Not sure if I'm the best guy to give advice on Zeo dosing but will surely give my best :p

Alternative you should post in the Zeovit forum as Alexander and Bob are excellence 'eyes' there!!

I got the same thread running there as well :smokin:

As for the reactor, if Tim is handy with PVC, maybe he can make you a automatic model. I got the diagram on how to do it but the only problem I have is making a funnel with hole as the based !!

Need to find someone who can make that for me and the rest should be a breeze !!

No more pumping em reactors twice a day

:D
