Why dont you put a piece of eggcrate on the top of the overflow box and cover it with some rocks and "maybe" some mangrooves, I think that would look astonishing.

Ed ... your build is so schweet!

I've found the scientific reasoning for your success due to the opening of your mind with wine! It is an old theory called the Wildebeest Principle and goes like this:

Annually in Africa, vast herds of wildebeest and other like animals migrate across the plains to fresh grazing and water. Behind them follow the prides of lions and leopards, cheetah, packs of dogs and hyena, etc. They pick off the weak and frail animals and this ensures a strong gene pool for the breeding season ahead. Thus, the gene pool of the wildebeest is continually improved.

Well, wine acts on the human brain in much the same way ... the alcohol kills off the weak brain cells leaving only the superior ones. Consequently, after consumming adequate quantities of wine one is guaranteed to always feel SMART and KNOW ALL!!!

Hence you ability to see solutions not evident whilst sober.

:)

Ed, definitely give the plumbing time to get a nice bacterial coating to reduce the microbubbles. I really like the Reeflo pumps, but any pump with a fan is still noisy. I think for any tank I set up in the future, it'll use fanless pumps, like Red Dragons or Flowstars. Sure, they add a little more heat, but silence is golden.:D

As for the overflow rock cover, I'd try getting a larger rock, semi pyramid shaped, and hollow out the larger, flatter side. The part sticking up out of the water will have some dimension, 3-D ish, rather than flat, while providing an overhang of sorts to your rock pillar.

Well eggcrate for sure will be used and looking for the right rock works.... no mangroves for this tank (eventhou it's an excellence idea) but I'm more thinking of an island/ mountain with moss growing on the rocks...etc

I know...i know....I don't make life easy for myself.

Ed, Have you considered the Laguna range from Askol? Apparently these are the motor blocks for Red Dragon pumps. You won't need to sell your family into slavery to afford one :)

Tone:lol:

My tank is official for sale now. If I don't get any offers in the price range I'm hoping for I'll probably sell off the stock and have the equipment shipped to the US. Once in the US there is a good chance that it will be easier to find a buyer for the tank. At least that is the idea right.

I'm moving on to the tank I was hoping to setup 2 years ago. 60x60x30. There are a few changes to the system design but I'm looking forward to a new project.

You tank is looking awesome, your aquascaping will be a big inspiration for me.

Cheers,
Tom

Tom, USA 110V, UK 220-240V ... maybe the equipment is best sold off in the UK.

;)

Oh I'm well aware that I won't be able to use everything in the US. But the tunzes, vortechs, and halides all can be used on either voltage and Hz from my understand. The skimmer pump, main return, and closed loop would have to be replaced but that is a minor cost compared to the entire system. Thanks for the heads up though!

Sorry for the OT Ed. Guess we'll need some more pictures to get this thread back on track. :D

looking reall good Ed. I am very impressed, i love shallow tanks. Where in China are you from? I spent 2 months in wuhan two summers ago.

Would be better idea to sell off your equipments (especially those not using 110v) first before moving to the US.

Good side for your new cube!! Aquascaping something this size will be lot's fun :D
