Your lucky! I have to rely on my very detailed instructions and one of my family members to remember!

I actually train my driver to handle it for me...took a while but now he is familiar as long as I give him the dosing schedule

:D

That's a good idea! I just have one problem....I don't have a driver!

Family members at home helping you dose is better than any driver....!!

ed, is there a proposed fish list in this thread somewhere?

There is.....

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1593987&perpage=25&pagenumber=4

Scroll down......

But for those knowing me, I'm not very good in following my fish stock listing as I can be easily won over when I see a beautiful fish in the LFS or someone is tearing down a tank and got a fish or two that I like.....

REVIEWS

REVIEWS

OK, now that the major work is done, (and nothing exciting happening) as promised, some quick reviews for those interested…

Galaxy Ballast:
I’ve heard of horrifying stories of buzzing ballast so the first thing I did was switch them on. Mmmm…after a couple of minutes of total silence and very little heat is emitted out, which is great, as I don’t need any more addition heat in my tank :D

Will run them for a few more weeks and comment back!!

The pulse start is really COOL as it slowly brings up the MH. Supposed to be good for Radium bulbs….!! I presume it also helps should you experience electricity black-out and when the electricity comes back, it won’t give your Mh a shock and hopefully will extend their life span to a year!!

I know…I know Radium bulb color spectrum shifted after 6 months due to most people over drive their bulbs but I hear that Galaxy ballast is build around this bulb, and therefore don’t over-drive as much as the other ballast so 8-12 months life span is possible.

Tek2 T5 Reflector:
Figure a picture to start off a reflector review is the easiest.…..

LightingFixture28.jpg

You can see how highly reflective those Sunlight Supply Tek2 reflectors are... you can clearly see the reflection of the writings on the T5’s tubes I’m using

They looks exactly the same as IceCap with the same mirror finished, except they are a litter wider and cheaper too…!! I angle both reflectors slightly towards the center of the MH to give it a better spread inwards.

Tek2Reflector03.jpg

I guess a wider reflector is good for actinic or at the center of your T5 set-up for a wider light spread but does limits the amount of T5 you can put under your hood, should you planned to go all T5 :rolleye1: where in this case, IMO IceCap is better.

Another odd thing is I notice the Tek2 reflector seem a little short at both end?? I wonder why they did this?? I check around and apparently this seems normal for a Tek reflector â€"œ if I remember correctly IceCap reflector goes end to end or maybe the same?? Does not bother me much but just seem odd, that’s all….

LightingFixture30.jpg

Maybe if someone is thinking of retrofitting a T5 set-up, can used a combo of Tek2 and IceCap…love em choice, don’t ya!!

And this is the center combi I’m using…however can’t seem to adjust my camera WB to take the actual colors of the tubes

T5-Center.jpg

However, at this moment, I can’t really tell which gives out better par unless someone borrow me a Par meter

:D

looks like everyone finished commenting on the fish list, i noticed a catalina goby, im pretty sure they are a temperate fish.

yup - if u read on, I think that's off the list....

Currently I'm actually thinking of getting a couple of Green/ Blue Clown gobies but not sure if it's wise with my SPS???

I remember there was an article about them a while back in RC but can't seem to find it??

Well finally 34 pages down, late as usual to the build threads, I can't believe i was so far behind on another one of your great builds.

I haven't been lurking as much lately as my build has been going awfully slow. You will definitely have another awesome tank setup and full of beautiful coral and fish before i finish setting up my first.

I will still be modeling more closely after your first tank but i love the new design with the rock coming out of the water. If i had a big enough tank i would try and make a mangrove island. I had never even thought of it till this thread. How does one person come up with so many new and excellent ideas?

Jason

I got an email that someone posted here, and it isnt here???

I found an artical about clown gobies in RK mag here,
http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-10/hcs3/index.php

It doesnt mention much about dangers to SPS except for one type,Gobiodon brochus, that doesnt have a common name. However i found quite a few threads where people have problems with clown gobies in general trying to rip off polyps. Some say that they nest in the middle of a colony and clear all the polyps in there. When the search becomes useable tonight ill see if i can post some links for ya.

Thanks Jason - was wondering what took you so long??? I've been following your thread and look like you got some cool looking aquascape layout :p

Thanks - this was the article I was looking for....odd I could not find it when I went back to past issues!!

Yeah did a search on the SPS forum and seem a lot of people have problems with them munching on their SPS PE :eek2:

They are really cute and my LFS have 1 Green and 1 Blue Clown Goby. First time for me to see the blue clown goby and that's why I was tempted to try both in the tank and see how they do.

Not to worry about them building a next in the SPS as I'm not getting a pair but even an individual that could possibly chew on SPS PE makes me think twice.

Mmmmm tough decision to make as they will look really nice hanging out on my Acro's branches....

Been a while since I've checked out your thread. You've got some fabulous work going on as always Ed!

Thanks Lunabud74 - yup things been going as planned so I'm pretty please how things are going so far, apart from my CL pump...!!

:p

I'd say get both of the gobies. If they are going to nibble on the polyps you can still get them out before the corals have had a chance to lay a base against your live rock. I really would like to see the blue morph as I too have not seen one.
