Very nice Ed. Once again you shock me with how quickly things are moving along. Love the lighting on this tank.

If the ridge coral was dead I think it would have a white skeleton, right? Maybe the polyps just haven't come out yet.

Nope. The blue ridge coral is a brown LPS/SPS type of hybrid, named the blue ridge because of the nice blue skeleton. It's usually hacked off of reefs, killed, cleaned, and sold as one of the most popular dry coral curios. I've got one, albeit live, in my tank, and if you ever break a piece off, you see the nice blue skeleton.

Here's a pic of a wild colony where the tips have died showing the blue skeleton.

Sorry to sidetrack Ed, but it looks to me like you've got a skeleton.:(

Yea, looks like it :( Here's an idea to make the best of it - glue a bunch of encrusting montis onto it so they take the shape of the skeleton, not exactly natural, but could be very cool.

Thatd be a cool idea. A big sunset monti the shape of that. I always thought about doing that wth a big monti cap skeleton I have dried.

Ed, it is coming along very quickly. Is that Zeo going to make you able to keep corals, without any fish? Almost seems TOO low of nutrients.

Looks good ed! I would say blue porites as well for that unknown....but I'm no expert! Different color montis would look kool covering it....or zoas!

I think the green thing is encrysting hydno (cool) and the blue is porites maybe?

Nice corals Ed.

Agree on the green encrusting hydno..... the PE sure looks like it!! As for the blue piece, mmmmm...have seen Porites before but usually yellow and have some sort of scaly looking skin but this one is smooth??

I dunno Ed, but that blue one looks an aweful lot like a dead Blue Ridge Coral, Heliopora coerulea.

Haven't seen a Blue Ridge Coral (or a live one for that matter) Will the skeleton still look blue if it's dead???

Will give it a few more days to see if there is any PE??

Thanks Ryan - the 14 days Zeovit cycle really works wonders....!! Have to try it to believe it :D

Yeah, not sure if the 2 pieces blue coral is dead or alive but to my eyes it sure don't look like any dead corals to me

Let's see in a few days time

So Jeremy you're saying if it's dead, then you can see the blue as the skeleton itself is blue

I LIKE the encrusting monti idea :D

Might just do that if no PE shows in the next 2-3 weeks
