Thatd be a cool idea. A big sunset monti the shape of that. I always thought about doing that wth a big monti cap skeleton I have dried.

Ed, it is coming along very quickly. Is that Zeo going to make you able to keep corals, without any fish? Almost seems TOO low of nutrients.

True - very cool to have a sunset monti shape this way...!!

Well let's see on the nutrient side of things..... I'm dosing some bak and food in the tank so will give it a week or two and might just add 2-3 smaller fishes (gobies, etc) to kick up the nutrient, if required !!

Looks good ed! I would say blue porites as well for that unknown....but I'm no expert! Different color montis would look kool covering it....or zoas!

Could be a Porites species but honestly never seen a Blue Porites before....only seen yellow Porites in the past and they usually have some sort of scaly looking skin but this one is smooth??

:eek2:

It can't hurt to give it a little time. There was a picture posted by a RC member in Lebanon that I thought was 100% dead skeleton that turned out to be alive, and healed up. I still can't believe it was alive, but time proved me wrong.

It could be blue porites or blue stylophora, or it could be the dead core. The thing is, I've never seen one dead and full exposed like that before. I've seen a broken piece were you could see the insides, but not what looks like a blue colony the way you posted it.

Here's mine, displaying some hair-like polyps

Looks obscene

in a nice way of course :D

Yeah, if it's dead, you will see a completely blue skeleton. As I look back at your pic, you can actually see where some of the tips are roughed up and you can see the inner skeleton.:(
I'd say it's definitely just a skeleton now, but it won't hurt anything to leave it in the tank.

Just one more example, then I'll stop:D

Here's a dried skeleton from an online shop of a Blue Ridge with more platelike growth:

Thanks Jeremy - from the picture of skeleton, you can see the holes where else mine is still smooth, apart from some parts where you can see the skeleton expose...

One thing for sure, it's looking more and more like a Blue Ridge coral, just not sure if it's alive or dead????

Will leave it in the tank for 2-3 weeks and if still no sign of life, I will do the monti encrusting thingy.....

:)

MORE PICTURES….

MORE PICTURES….

The unknown (dead or alive) still remains a mystery…..

Meanwhile the others are adapting well into their new home.

You can see diatoms are also starting on both the rocks and sand bed with some slight green algae on the glass panels.

Water is also crystal clear now…

That would be me, coral in question was an LPS, turned into a skeleton after I got it and many told me to take it out and when I was about to iI noticed it was improving. the weird thing is that it stayed for months with no sign of any improvement and then all of a sudden I cuold see daily improvement.
had a later issue of bleaching in smallparts of it but then recovered fine and still looks great.
Pics at its worse and best can be seen here:

though not an expert on corals I would say keep it in the tank. also I would say if it's dead it would get some alga buildup on it which is usualy thebest indicator, however yours doen't show any

Thanks for dropping by maroun. Great documentation of your tank's up/down/up and so good to see everything is striving now.

Agree if it's confirm dead, I think algae will get to it in no time so guess time will tell....

Honestly to my eyes it sure don't look dead but there are others who beg to differ

Ed, do you plan on using a perstaltic dosing pump to automate your zeovit dosing?

I might one day but at this moment I don't think it's a good investment as I still have to dose the other zeo stuff manually

Easy enough for me to get someone over when I'm on one of my business trips to drop by and dose stuff for me.....

:D
