Thanks Sandy :D How's your build coming along??

SLOW!:smokin:
The bids in the fish room have been outrageous:mad2:
So I am supposed to have 2 other contractors giving me a bid today:)

one of the contractors is my daughters new man, maybe I will get a realistic bid from him, if not I'll just keep getting bids.

I will start shopping for a welder soon for the stand.

I have a lot of equipment I can use from our 2 tanks now, so that is a cost saver.

As far as the tank goes, I pretty much know what I want and need.
thanks to all the threads here at the RC, it makes choosing equipment easy!

How is the your TN in the tank?
I know how difficult it is going out of town, to come home to trouble in the tank.
I'm sure by now you have everything under control :D

Last time my went out of town my mother-in-law killed a 200.00 ricordea, needless to say THAT was her last time taking care of the tank. She said Oh, I didn't's notice that rock on the bottom of the tank it was upside down :(

Ed,
Zeovit is not what it claims to be. Think about your set up. you are losing fish faster than gas prices are rising. don,t be so stubborn. Get A UV STERILIZER..!!!!

Did you have an ick problem that wiped out your old tank?
Did your old acros RTN?
How good is this zeovit??

UV sterilizer will not help his ich.

it wont help anything

his corals are RTNing based on the nutrient levels the corals were used to in the old tank, + the bleaching from the intense light that the solaris shines straight down on the corals.

its not Zeovit its just what happens when corals and fish are moved from a dirty system to a clean one.

ICH can survive on healthy fish most 80-90% of tanks have ich in them at all times.

correlation does not equal causation.

Hillwhomp [welcome] although something in my gut says you have been here before....

Awesome setup Ed. I'm following your progress and taking notes for mine which is similar in size. I also have a Profilux Elite package, but haven't fiddled with it yet. How do you like it so far? Any issues or desire to make it better?

Thanks hillwhomp for your advice - in my old tank I do run with UV and yes, I do get Ich outbreaks as well. I think the reason for losing these fishes are mainly my own fault so to the impatience me of transferring over 20 fishes in one go.... :(

As for RTN, most acros (if not all) are expected to have some affect during the transfers from a non-zeo system to a zeo-system as they need time to adjust. However, I still believe in a long run, a zeo-system will benefit my corals more. Hopefully i'm not wrong here.... :rolleye1: only time will tell !!

Hi Oldtimer - I have not played fully my Profilux yet to be honest. Hook up my wavebox on the controller but in the end went back to my Tunze wavebox controller as I think it's easier to control. Still have not figure out the water level part yet but will play with it more once I settle in my corals/ fishes and the tank conditions are more stable. :p

Ed,
how difficult is the controller to set up?
That is the same controller I'm getting.

BTW, I just got a bid on my fish room, looks like we will be starting in 3 weeks :D :D :D :D

Hi Sandy,

Don't think it's too difficult but there i s a lot of different set-up you can make the controller do, which I have not figure out yet what I want it to do so temporary I'm just using the probes for basic reading and also timer functions.

I think you can download the manual for a pre-reading 1st to give you a head start. Let me know if you can't find where to download the manual??

Great news on your fish room..... the FUN BEGINS..... :D

LED REPLACEMENT HERE

LED REPLACEMENT HERE

Yes, DHL called and delivery the replacement strips of my LED lightings. Actually only 2 LED was not working but since it belong to 2 different strips, therefore have to change both strips :( and guess what?? The distributor send me 4 LED strips so now I have 2 strips LED spare â€"œ talk about great service!!

SolarisLEDReplacement01.jpg

To install is quite easy as it’s a matter of removing 4 screw at the side of the fixtures and sliding out the protective cover and once this is done, simply remove another 4 screws that secure the LED strips to the heat sink and pull out the damage LED strip and replace the faulty LED strip with the new replacement strip….

Light Fixture side Panel removed with protective cover slide out:

Faulty LED Strips the removed and replace:

Once the new LED strips are replaced, this also stop my blinking LED issue (4 of my LED was blinking) as apparently the chip that controls the amount of power to the LED was overheating, due to the excess voltage caused by the faulty LEDS that was out.

Con't

Con't

Now that's out of the way, got another minor problem. Apparently 2 strips of my Day White LED refuse to switch off during the midnight mode  Does not bother me much actually but as this is not a normal operation so I got in touch with the distributor and PFO figure this could be cause by a faulty Transistor board, which is rare, according to them.

Anyway, most importantly they also send me replacement Transistor board together with my LED strips so will try it out and see if it works. for great Customer Service

New Transistor board:
SolarisLEDReplacement03.jpg

This is where the Transistor board is located. What surprise me is the new transistor board they send me is a different build….much smaller and more advance so it seems that PFO are aware of their transistor board design fault.

You can see the different in both size and design in this picture….the larger piece is the original transistor board design.

Meanwhile, I have raised the lighting level in my tank. :bounce2:

UPDATES…..

UPDATES…..

Water parameter testing again today……

➢ Temperature â€"œ 26.3 degree C
➢ Salinity â€"œ 1.026
➢ Ph â€"œ 8.18
➢ NO3 â€"œ 5 (using Salifert)
➢ dKH â€"œ 8.6 (using old Salifert test kit)
➢ dKH â€"œ 8.3 (using new Salifert test kit)
➢ dKH â€"œ 8 (API test kit â€"œ same with last week)
➢ Ca â€"œ 420 (using Salifert test kit)
➢ Mg â€"œ 1350 (drop from last week….)
➢ PO4 â€"œ Less than 0.03 (using Salifert)
➢ PO4 â€"œ 0.14 (using D&D High Sensitive Test kit)
➢ Potassium â€"œ between 360 to 370 (will increase my dosage of K-balance from 3ml/day to 4ml/day)

I think I figure out my high Mg issue could be cause by my CR as I’m using the Rowa C+ media, which consist of dolomite and I think when I put the media into the Reactor, it was not mix equally or in another words, too much dolomite… so I reduce the output of my Reactor and this has reduce my Mg

I think I got my Mg under control now. Only think left is my PO4 and NO3 which is still high. Anyway, I did the test prior to WC so let’s see…will do a bigger WC this week to help lower NO3 and hopefully PO4. I also change my filter for my RO unit…. :p

From one of those pix, it looks like you don't live on a ground floor... Is this correct?? If so, what floor are you on and do you worry about the weight of the tank??

Well I can see you are going through what most if not all solaris users have gone through. You will now start to see the white LED start to color shift and get dimmer. And more LED strips will go bad. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you will get to know Carla at PFO a lot better soon. Do yourself a favor and get them swapped for a MH fixture....your SPS will thank You:)

Oh yea, Since you are in China, the part probably was sent from your country to the USA and then back to you!

The fixture is made right in your country.

Hi Bigian, yes, you are correct, I don't live on the ground floor... my apartment is on the 13th floor but it's fine as apartments in China are build with solid concert flooring and have also check with Building management and they also gave the green light. :D
