Well I can see you are going through what most if not all solaris users have gone through. You will now start to see the white LED start to color shift and get dimmer. And more LED strips will go bad. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you will get to know Carla at PFO a lot better soon. Do yourself a favor and get them swapped for a MH fixture....your SPS will thank You:)

Thanks buck50bmg for your concerns. I don't quite agree with your statement that 'most Solaris users went through the same issues (for i-series anyway)' but obviously unfortunately I have to be one of those that faces these issues but it's an easy fix and my distributor have been excellence in customer service, which I think it's most important for us hobbies. Not to mention the 2 years warranty, which is much longer than most lighting fixture brand will offer

I have a few friends using the I-series much longer than I have and they have no such issues as mine :( If you do a search here in RC, there are also other top branded light fixtures that have problems i.e. sfiligoi and even Giesemann. I'm not going to start a debate here on which fixture is better but apart from the 2 LED not working (which was an easy fix) the light fixture does what it claims and I still think it's the light of the future with it's flexibility in color temperature, brightness adjustment and solar rotation but I guess only time will tell.... :p

However, if I ever do feel the lights will be an issue, trust me, I will defiantly post it here and will go back to MH or even try out T5... :p

Oh yea, Since you are in China, the part probably was sent from your country to the USA and then back to you!

The fixture is made right in your country.

Actually 'Made-in-China' then it went to 'US' then it's deliver to 'Singapore' where my distributor is, and back to me here in 'China' :D Talking about around the world... but my distributor in Singapore is great as they insist to check everything 1st before sending to me. Also I only need 2 strips of LED replacement and they send me 4 strips...talk about great service :D

SECOND ZEOLITES EXCHANGE

SECOND ZEOLITES EXCHANGE

Wow….times flies and it’s already time for my 2nd exchange…. My dosing schedule remain the same as previous, except for the 1st 10 days, I increase dosage for Zeobac and Zeofood7 with hope of bringing down my PO4 to a more manageable level….

My next Zeo exchange is schedule 6-8 weeks from now so should be between end August to 1st week Sept…

ICH FREE

ICH FREE

Hi Sandy,

Yes, been ich free for over 20 days now… the remaining fishes have fully recovered and is gaining back their appetite. Will give it another 20 days before I attempt to add another fish again… :D

Anyway, will be getting a small tank to be used for quarantine maybe this weekend.

TN is another issue....I still cannot get my PO4 and NO3 under control. Did some sand vacuuming and 15% WC last weekend and will do the same this weekend so hopefully it will start to come down. Those that didn't TN on me have darken and lost their colors and I guess will takes a few months before coloring back up again. :eek2:

hey ed, didnt read the whole thread, but skimmed thru it and man, nice aquascape, sorry to hear about the ick and TN issue! ill be sure to read the updates from now on =)

Thanks moo0o and WELCOME to my thread... :D

Yeah, the Ich and TN issues sucks but guests that's all part of the 'deal' so now the Q is what do we do and how do we handle it??

LED UPDATES

LED UPDATES

As update in my previous post, I change my Transistor Boards PFO send to me for my lights issue but my Day White (DW) Led still remains on during the night mode. Send them an e-mail explaining the issues and apparently they realize they send me the Control Board instead of the Transistor Board???

Anyway, they will send me the Transistor board and once I received and replace them I will update here to see if this resolved my problem. Already started shipment from Singapore yesterday so should arrived this weekend

Meanwhile, no big issue to have 3 DW Led remaining on during the night mode as all my Leds are now working and no light flickering anymore.

FWIW, for those who are using Led lighting, what I’m told cause the light flickering is the uneven distribution of the power once one or some of the Led are not working and once replace, everything works as normal.

So far, I must say, the customer service from my distributor in Singapore is GREAT as I let them deal directly with PFO and they usually get back to me within 24 hours.

Thanks Sandy, yeah, my distributer is great. Wish all my other equipments have such great customer service. Does really makes a difference and a peace of mind

Already got notice from DHL that it's in China already so should be shipped to me today or tomorrow :)

UPDATES…..

UPDATES…..

This week again I vacuumed the sand bed and increase my WC from the norm 10% to 15% and did a Water parameter testing……

➢ Temperature â€"œ 26.7 degree C
➢ Salinity â€"œ 1.026
➢ Ph â€"œ 8.15
➢ NO3 â€"œ 5 (using Salifert â€"œ same as last week)
➢ dKH â€"œ 8.6 (using old Salifert test kit â€"œ same as last week)
➢ dKH â€"œ 8.3 (using new Salifert test kit â€"œ same as last week)
➢ dKH â€"œ 8 (API test kit â€"œ same as last week)
➢ Ca â€"œ 420 (using Salifert test kit â€"œ same as last week)
➢ Mg â€"œ 1320 (using Salifert test kit - drop from last week)
➢ PO4 â€"œ 0.1 (using Salifert â€"œ went up from last week)
➢ Potassium â€"œ between 370 to 380 (will remain my dosage of K-balance at 4ml/day)

Odd my PO4 actually went up from last week. Seems like my Bacteria is not establish?? Will give it another week and see if it comes down.

Meanwhile, the rest of the parameters all seem stable so only thing to fix now is my PO4.

increase the start dosage slowly to help bring down phosphate ant nitrate. if your tank goes cloudy from bacteria bloom you have increased too much.

once you reach nutrient poor state, the rocks and other things that contain bound up PO4 will release phosphate until there is no more to leech out.

Glad to hear everything is healthy now, Ed. Maybe best to check that PO4 again, maybe it was a dodgy test or perhaps it does need bringin down.

Thanks Nick...I will increase my Start2 to 3times/day and monitor end of this week. If still no drop, I will increase further the Zeobac and food dosage.... :) Guess my rocks still need more time before it stop leaching those PO4

Thanks Kane, I think the testkit is fine (unfurtunately :( ) as I tested both with Salifert and D&D High Sensitive testkit and both results are not favourable

REPLACEMENT TRASISTOR BOARD ARRIVED!!

REPLACEMENT TRASISTOR BOARD ARRIVED!!

Yes, DHL called and my transistor boards have arrived from Singapore.

SolarisRevisedTransistorBoard.jpg

The new Transistor board is with the black/red cable solder in. The previous controller board symmetric looks similar as the new Transistor board so hopefully by replacing this board, the LED that won’t shut off during the night mode will be resolved.

Will try to find time to do the exchange this weekend as this week I’m battling with a Typhoon schedule to hit this city coming from Taiwan so this week’s priority is to make sure all my guests are safe and not effected by the Typhoon….

Meanwhile, it’s been raining cats & dogs here…. :worried:

that D&D test kit is the real deal if your getting .2 with that then you should really do a whole system check, i would check all your RO/DI cartridges also.

what are you feeding the fish and how often?

Yeah, my D&D results is on it's highest scale unfortunately :(

Just did a change on my RO filter cartridge last week and feeding pellets only once a day which is consume almost immediately :(

Only thing I can think of is the bio-cycle is not properly establish yet and I stock up too fast transferring from my old tank so I'm giving it a little more time with add dosage of Zeostart2 to see if this helps with the PO4

Time and zeostart2 will suck those phosphates out, i would also use a very small amount of ROWA, but shhhh dont tell the zeo guys i told you too. ;)

i would run it passively and use much less than rowa recommends, the intention would be to take the majority of the p04 out but NOT all of it, or the zeo starvation theorists will be all over you..

Edit;

i think KZ sells a GFO product but i would still use Rowa i think. Watch out that the alk does not swing any lower than it is now.

:D :D :D

Actually the thoughts did cross my mind as I have a unopen can of Rowa sitting right in front of me (left over from my previous tank) so you can imagine the temptation. My only concern is if it did more harm than good...anyway, going to give it another 2 weeks and if still no change it's time to take some drastic action I'm out of tricks...I have since vacuum the sand bed, blow the rocks, add more WC than usual, increase dosage, reduce feeding, wet skimming so can't think of anything else... :) I know those stuff is powerful as it brings down my PO4 in my previous tank in a blink of an eye :p
