Ed, how're you doing with those snails munching your monties? I have an outbreak of 'pyramid' snails that have snacked on my sps and monti ... bit of a mess. So far, I've plucked about 3 dozen out after dark from pin head size to about 1cm in length.

Those nasties came back last night - a few and I scrap them off again...

Looks like it's gonna be a long battle here to get rid of them completely. I'm trying to get some more wrasse to see if this helps keep them population in check. :idea:

Plucking the buggers out is the only way I think; I have a huge Coris and a Six-line that seem to be sleeping on the job ... they probably get the eggs but at night when the snails are out, they're fast asleep!

Thanks Tony - yeah I think those suckers gonna be with me for quite a while so let's hope I can keep their population in check with daily checks

Params looking great this week. Seems my corals are taking up my Ca so that can only mean one thing "“ they are growing :spin3:

Also another thing I wanna comment about API testkits "“ their dKH testkit is spot on each time but their Ca testkit always shows high results. Not sure if mine is faulty but what's other's experience there, especially when you have two different brand testkit to compare to??

Yeah, they say "love makes the world go round." but it's obviouse they've never seen FTS of salt water systems... cause really, FTS is what makes the world go round... amirght? haha

i´ve had them my self, but at the time my chelmon came into the tank they suddenly disappeared! :eek1:
at that time they had killed up to 90% of my montipora confusa!
but i don´t think the chelmon killed them! :bum:

Will see what I can do as most of the time I'm back it's already late at night and hard to take the stand color as that's best taken during the day time but my lights only comes on in the evening :wildone:

Mine looks like these...

I'm back and have a quick look at the tank as the lights were still on.

I notice one of my montie was getting bald at the bottom and upon closer inspection found those"¦

I took out that piece of montie out of the tank for a better look

And did a dip with Coral Rx for 10 min and scrape whatever left of it out"¦.

My Orange Cap does not seem to be affected (so far) so hopefully the damage is limited to just this piece"¦.

By the way, I think this piece is identified as Montipora Nodosa for those interested

the one thing i know is that the Halichoeres chrysus ( i´m not going to link another german lexikon here, but fishbase isn´t working really fast) is one of the "weapons" against this pest! So they say here in Austira!
i really think my chelom did some picking but after they killed nearly all of my montis they died out of hunger i guess!?

But what i did out of knowing is:
i took out the monties and bathed them in iodine!
i got mine from the drugstore and it´s called betaisodona

it´s also used to disinfect!
i hope i can help u.
would be very sorry if u lose one of u´re monties to these 'grain of rice'
