From what i have read the MP20 isn't as great as the MP40 most recommend the mp 40's Heck there are nano tanks that are running the MP 40. A thread to check out would be Tswiftys.

there is the link if i remember correctly he goes into a little depth about the MP 40. If it isn't in this thread it is in the end of his 90 gallon thread.

Here is also another thread about the MP 40 debate.

A little teaser :)

I received my RKE before Christmas and with all going on, just got it on line in the last two days...I love it.

I have not had a controller before, but it is a dream to program. I was having some of the button problems as I have read about when I first hooked it up. I flashed the head unit to 1.08 as I am expecting delivery of the MLC and no problems since. It did state in the package it had 1.07. So far I am very happy.

OOOOO SWEEET . I see you ordered an extra power strip. The basic setup comes with two right? What's that cap on the bottom of the red probe? My head unit will be upstairs from the sump. How long is the longest cable as I will probably need about 10 feet from the head unit to the system interface device?
Where did you order from Drew?

The cap on the red probe is coving the ORP probe which I bought sepearately (along with an extra power unit) from PA because it was cheaper than from Marine Depot, where I bought the head unit. I got the RKE calibrated last night and setup, though I need one more power strip unit to run everything. I;ll give a more detailed review of my initial time with the unit in the next couple of days.

Small Update
I'm getting kind of bored right now as I'm almost to the point of running out of things to do :) . The venturi and gasket for the skimmer should be here next week so I can finish the plumbing for that. I have to pick up a 24" wall and 24" base cabinet for storing stuff (you know this hobby needs lots of stuff :p ). Then start on the DT stand - but that won't take but a day.
I have my QT tank up and running (made my first batch of SW -- does that mean I'm not a virgin reefer any more? ) and am getting some live rock next week to put in there. I'm going to order some dead (maybe aquacultured) rock so I can drop that in and start the seeding process. Anyone got any suggestions on a good place to order from?
I will post a few pictures this weekend.

Fear not my friend!

Soon enough, something will, leak, burst, just plain explode or other wise totally chnage all your plans!

Gotta love this "hobby"! ;)

Base rock seems to have become hard to come by at the moment. I think seeding this is best as it is in my experience better looking rock then aquacultured. I now have a holding tank with 50 lbs of dry base from Marco Rocks that I am just starting to seed. It is probably equivalent to over 100 pounds of established rock and very nice.

TBS has good aquacultured rock but there are other good places too. It is not as pretty to look at though, but comes with very cool established hitch hikers that are good and bad, but always interesting. I started my first 26 g tank with 30 lbs of TBS rock I still find new things growing from it 5 years later!

Are you saying that Marco Rocks are completely dead? I only have a small (30g) QT tank so I don't want to have to quarantine a whole lot of LR but thought I could QT the LR then add the dead rock knowing that there was no "bad" stuff on it. Does that make sense?

Marco Rocks, by my understanding, are somewhere between LR and base rock. Typically, base rock is left to sun dry, the soaked in bleach and water for some time to dissolve organics in the rock and to give them that crisp white look. Marco Rocks are simply sun dried. Because of this, they often have the remnants of algae and animals inside of their crevices which must be removed during curing before they are added to your DT. I will try to find a thread tonight that I remember seeing where someone added Marco Rocks straight to their DT. It wasn't pretty.

I feel you neeed to cure any "base rock". My Marco Rock has been producing skim since day one for over six months before the skimmer finally stopped pulling skimate.

... sorry about the leaking comment, just kidd'n

I just came from Alans house and let me tell you all that his setup is A+++++ !!! Neatest and tidyest fish room Ive ever seen! Great job Alan!

Thanks Jeff. Good to have you and Frank over for a quick look-see. Yes I am a neat freak but I believe that cleanliness is next to insanity.
What was the name of that online rock vendor again (my memory cells are disappearing as I get older -- but not as old as Frank). :p

Thats cause there is no water yet. I still don't have any fish and I'm struggling to keep mine neat. It started out spotless :(
