Bravo WaterKeeper, Bravo.

Hey Matt when you coming over? Or are you waiting for the Tank Christening Party (no breaking of champagne bottles allowed). :eek2:

PS Tom's invited only if he brings his lifeguard friends. :p

Can't make it but I'll bless the water for you. :D

Btw- I was going to post a pic from Baywatch but hiring them full time might preclude the purchase of another major power tool.

How accessible will the top become once the lights are in place? If it becomes a nice warm resting place, with a cool view of the fish, the cat may take a fancy to it up there!

Hey Alan, I was coming up this past Saturday to go with You, Jeff, and Frank to Pam's place... but yet again life matters came first. My Grandmother was ill and I needed to go that way. But, SOON I plan to check you and Jeff out!!! Oh, and your setup is looking great man.

Tom
I didn't want to hire them -- I only want to borrow them. :p Mail me a bottle of your blessed water and I'll pour it in (accompanied by a suitable Gregorian Chant). :D

Alan,
I think if Elliot does get wet, he will only get wet once!

Sandy
:eek2: :eek2: :eek2: He runs a mile if I accidentally splash him. Maybe I should hold him by the tank and splash some SW on him.

It's going to be fairly closed in. I also plan on putting a band of either mahogany or black acrylic around the top to hide the pipes in the overflow and the water level. It will also stop glare from the light fixtures.

Let me know when Matt.

geez Alan - if a cat climbed around on, and scratched such a nice piece of furniture, I would be tempted to give him the "Jimmy Hoffa swimming lesson".
maybe a shiny new lead collar, and an hour or so for him to closely examine the sand on the bottom of the tank. ( just kidding Alan)

NEW TOY

NEW TOY

Here are a couple of photos of the dimmer unit for my lamps. It's designed for chicken houses to gradually bring on the lights and if hooked up to a cheap timer can simulate sunrise and sunset from 0-60 minutes.
What interested my was the ability to accept a 0-10VDC input to ramp up or ramp down the lights. I have the RKM-ALC module for my RKE that has the ability to output a 0-10VDC signal.
I had to connect the receptacles and power cord. The black and red wires are for the 0-10VDC signal.

They will work with any incandescent or LED bulbs. Here's the link (the published price is not what you pay -- PM me and I will give you the cost to me).

Tank is now online with the sump and almost up to temperature. :bounce3:
I had some problems yesterday with leaks at the blue corrugated hose connections to the barbed fittings. As much as I tightened the clamps I could not stop the drip so this morning I made my daily pilgrimage to Lowes and picked up some clear vinyl hose. After warming it up in the oven it went on fine and apart from an initial drip (which has since cleared up by itself) everything is fine.
I did have noise problems caused by too high a flow from the sump. The water level in the overflow chamber was almost up the the tank level and way above the Durso elbows. After turning the flow way down the level is about half way up the Durso Elbow and the only noise I have is coming from the Dursos themselves. I think I may need a larger hole as they are gurgling every five seconds or so. Anyone got any ideas???
Here are some shots of the tank. In the last one you can just make out one of the Vortech MP40s. I really like them and they are quite quiet.

As you can see I got seduced by the siren of the rocks -- aka AquaIllumination. I really like their LED arrays. Very bright and I get that nice shimmer effect. I am still waiting on Digital Aquatics to get the ALC module manual on their web site so I can program them.
I'm waiting on some LED bulbs (the ones that fit in a standard mogul base) to fill the center area.

Sure do and you have it right Alan. Drill a slightly, and I do mean slightly, larger hole in the Druso endcap. Keep doing it until the noise subsides. Use a real thin bit, like a 1/64th larger than the original hole, and keep moving up iin size until it quiets down.
