EvolutionZ 65 SPS dominated shallow reef

was browsing my old photos and dug out some coral's before & after photo!

tri-color valida, totally colorless with green polyps when i first bought it

now:

no one would believe it, but this smooth skin acro, turns out to be completely different as it grows :

as it grows, it starts to lose it's intense green coloration and gain a more blue-purplish hue and it tables!

Wow, I just found this tank and subscribed. Beautiful tank, beautiful pics. i really appreciate your before and after pictures. I'm running the same Razor over a 40 breeder.

So your lighting schedule, the last one posted looked like it dims down and then brightens back up, or is that a typo?

Looking forward to seeing a batch of June pictures. ;)

thanks! yes it dims down and then brighten up but i was just trying to see if this would cool down the razor. but since the razor only has 6-time point, it didnt serve much of its purpose.

right now my lightning schedule is 1 hour of sunrise, then A80% B100% straight for 9 hours, then 2 hours of sunset.

Looking good!

thanks!!

Stunning tank, I love the color that you are getting on your red dragon

thanks! but sadly it STN a little and i frag a small part of it and its doing good now!

I've been considering going to a maxspect instead of my T5's for my sps tank. How do you like it for growth and color? And do you think it'd be able to generate enough light for my clam that is 18" down? The model I'd get would be the exact one you have, but it would cover my entire tank side to side

updates:

Been about a week since i added a 2-tube T5 to the system. i wanted a retrofit since they come with individual reflectors but due to family issue (they find them ugly!!) i have to get a slimmer and nicer looking fixture.

its a aquazonic 2x24w T5HO, running a D-D giesemann Actinic+ & an ATI coral plus tube. probably will have to replace every 6-7 months. mounted and hanged together with my Razor.

Hey Evo:wave:, I read through you whole thread and I really liked the tanks progression in the amazing photos, top notch photography skills you have. I have definitely subbed to your thread.
Hows the aquazonic unit going? I was considering getting a led for my nano from them but decided against it and got a different brand because there wasn't a lot of info on the zonic units.
Amazing tank Evo, I'm thinking of taking my 67g down and replacing it with a shallow tank like you're's, I just love the shallow reef look.

hey fishy! thank you for taking your time reading through!

aquazonic is honestly, one of the cheapskate kinda fixture available but i was on a budget so its the only one to go for. its working well for me infact i used from over a few years during my freshwater days! most (if not all) freshwater planted tank keepers in my country uses aquazonic!

Here an update with tons of pictures. great to see some color up slightly after adding t5!

Awesome. Year one is to build momentum. In year 2 growth accelarates. Year 3 it explodes! Love your build!

Hey Evo I'm going to be doing a shallow reef soon and would love some tips on setting one up, things like aquascaping to get the best flow and max space for corals to be placed and stuff like that. Any tips greatly appreciated:beer:
