That seems like a good call on the T5's. Should give you some good experience, while not burning a hole in your pocket :thumbsup:

I'm not very familiar with biocubes, so will the 2 systems be linked with a common sump, or independent?

Independent of each other. I would link if I was in my own home and not renting. Too much risk, and I don't feel comfortable drilling the little cube.

Eventually, I would love to make the Cube an anemone/clown tank, but that is just a thought.

I see the point about renting though. Oddly enough, I went to college in the US, lived in 3-4 apartments in that time, and I NEVER got my deposit back :lol:... and I was no hellraiser either :lol:. Go figure

Well, I'm mostly past me "party" college phase. And Florida is the Shadiest Sunny place I know of, so I'm trying my hardest to get mine back... It's more parts for the future big build.

Drilling an existing tank is something I would not risk, even if my life depended on it.

This isn't going to be my first move with a tank, but it is the first move with a tank full of SPS I don't want to lose. I'm actually really nervous.

If anyone has any tips, please feel free to share.

I remember one or two threads on moving with tanks. Might want to look them up and have a good read to get an good idea of things.

Thanks, Sahin. I've been doing some looking into it, but it still makes me nervous. I'm going to be ordering 2 of those battery operated pumps and a square Brute container to hold everything.

I am also going to be replacing most of the sand after setting everything back up.

My Pistol Shrimp takes care of things as far as the substrate. I do no mixing or syphoning of it. I also have 2 nassarius snails (though I never see them) in the tank.

Have some dimensions in mind, but it won't be until late next year/early 2015.

Very nice nano. I commend you for your efforts as I've read that these nano's required quite a bit of work.

All those pretty SPS will take off soon, you need to pretend that 2014 didn't exist and treat this year as 2015!! :spin3:

I can only hope this year goes well. Sooner I get a house, the sooner I get my dream tank.

Hopefully the move won't set me back as far as coral growth or a complete reset. I'm feeling more comfortable now that I've read on moving. Fingers crossed.

Dunno if this helps....... I switched tanks about a year ago, 265G to my current Cubes. I moved most of my SPS to a friends, but there was still a lot left over. So transferred water, rock, and coral to a bare bottom 40B. No sand. I threw out all the sand from the 265g, since I had a feeling that there was some amount of contamination. But either way, I wouldn't transfer the sand with your move.

I'd say this was rather successful, IMO

Yeah, sand is going to be replaced (minus maybe a cup worth). I'd rather not risk stirring anything up the pistol shrimp may have missed.

I think I'm going to get everything done in one shot. Air pumps and 5 gallon buckets from home depot. It's definitely going to be the last thing I move.

One can only hope my large tank endeavors go as well, if not better.

On a side note; I don't think I'm going to be running a refugium on the frag tank. I don't really see a need to.

I won't have many fish requiring pods and it will free up some space for a reactor and the skimmer. BUT (and its a big BUT) my mind changes like the direction of the wind, so who knows.

Nice FTS :thumbsup:.... I love the minimalistic style of scaping, and you'd be hardpressed to find a 14G SPS tank, with the same style, so I'm impressed :thumbsup:. Colors look great as well :thumbsup:

The Cube will be up and running for as long as I have it. I love this little tank.

The 20 is going to be set up shortly after I get me and the lady moved into the apartment. The main use for the 20 is going to keep the trimmings from corals in the Cube and free up some space for me to continue to buy my more expensive frags.

The 20 still needs a stand and lights. But it really won't be long until its up.

So... I got bored and did a rework of the sump for the frag tank. It's a 15 gallon that is my retired 15 LPS tank from 8 years ago.

I have a soft spot for this tank as it was my first adventure into reefing. It's been resealed and water tested.

As you can see, I thought I had a whole tube of clear silicone, but all I really had was a tube of clear silicone that decided to set... So I opted for black silicone to finish the job.
