Nook, his wife Ann and I ( and hopefully others ) will be taking a float trip on either Monday July 30, Tuesday July 31 or Wednesday August 1. I tend to lean towards Tuesday, July 31 but the date is still open.

Nook works on the weekends and floating on the weekend is like driving Hwy. 40 during rush hour hence the workweek dates.

If anyone cares to join us feel free to speak up as to which of those 3 days would be best for you.

I'm up for Tuesday. Where are we going?

Wherever folks want to go, any suggestions?

Definitely not a camping trip, or Mrs. Nook and myself won't be there:D

i went earlier this summer and the fishing was really bad. normally you can catch about a dozen or more small pan fish. this year we only caught one or two of those perch looking things

That is because they don't make a tent you can fit in :D

That's almost right Lonnie but it's more like that no one makes a tent complete with an air conditioner that will hold the temperature at 63 degrees. :D

I went into his basement today and my teeth were chattering!

Be safe, all the rivers are up down this way.

Or like I always say bring more beer that way it doesn't hurt as much.

That might be pleasant compared to last years float. If the wind blew upstream you would be traveling backwards. Hardly any flow at all.

Since you seem to be knowledgeable about how to float, maybe you should come along Mike. :D

So, Tuesday, July 31st it is. Mrs Nook and I will be there...this is still 3 weeks away for anyone who wants to experience the beauty of Missouri's rivers without the drunken crowds that weekends bring....schedule a day off and treat yourself to an adventure with us.

Capo,

I will only go if I'm allowed to wear my leopard skin speedo. I will warn you the last time I worn it the game warden gave me a ticket for indecent exposure and endangering the local wildlife.:eek2: :eek2:

Actually I have to work. Got to get it while I can. Currently I'm the only supervisor on second shift.

OK, a small handful of us are going to take a Great Adventure on the Current River from Baptist Camp to Aker's Ferry which is 17 miles and 8-9 hours of floating.

We will be leaving Saint Louis at 0600 and arriving down at the canoe rental place by 0900. This will be an all day float and we should leave out of there by 6-7pm and be home by 9pm if all goes well.

For those of you who haven't floated this stretch of the Current River, you won't want to miss it. This is one of the coldest rivers in Missouri and the bluffs, wildlife and other scenery is tough to beat. If for some reason the water level is low, then we will set in at Cedar's Grove second choice and float to Pulltite, or third choice Aker's Ferry to Round Spring. Either way, we will have a 8-9 hour float and 17-20 mile adventure.

Here is the canoe rental place we are going to use:

If we get a rain-out, we will plan this float for Thursday, August 2nd. Hope you guys/gals can make it and join us for a great day on the Missouri Stream.

remeber when steve went last summer and turned into a steamed lobster! did anyone get a picture of that boy's sun burn?
