FMAS Frag Swap Meet Sponsored by Eco Reef Aquarium

Jessp: You cannot glue leathers they will always slime and fall off. I usually gently rubberband then to a frag rock/plug. Some will slip away, but about 50% or more will stay attached and be fully attached within 2 wks.

Goodnight all!

Here is the list of members that have tables reserved. If you are not on this list , you do not have a 1/2 table reserved. Please email me asap as we do not have many tables left. My email: tindallgrowers@bellsouth.net

Jessp,
With my leathers, I've always had good luck with toothpicking. Find a hole in the frag plug that can take a toothpic, or drill one with a tiny drill bit. Push the toothpic right through the leather and stake it into the rock. A few weeks later it is fully attached and you can pull the toothpic.

Morgan,
I cut off a small frag of my fiji when it was new. The polyps on the colony were back out the next day, and within a week the cut edge was healed over. I've heard the same stuff about them being delicate, but mine seemed to handle it pretty well.

I recently saw in a German magazine that they use syringe needles to hold the softies to the rock until they take. Looked like an interesting concept that I would like to try...just gotta find some sort of medical supplier to get needles from.

i tried the tooth pick w/ one of my yellow fiji/s i must not have done it properly because it rotted away around the pick, but from what others say this method does seem to work well.

it was my first time so i probably made some errors.

Needles? i wonder if the metal in the needle would cause any problems? probably a special metal that does not corrode.

here are a few pics of some of my frags thankfully they are all doing great and even spreading out just a bit at the base. I just fragged my green leather and after an hour the polyps were already out.

Very Cool

Very Cool

I'm new to the hobby and my tank has been recently cycled... got but a few mushrooms, a tree and some zoas, but i'm looking forwards to getting better and more interesting frags. Thanks for having the swap, I'll be there !!

Jess- I don't have a full tank shot sorry but i got the idea from seeing Roggers tank

LouPhoenix- welcome and you should come by this Tuesdays meeting

Thanks Nano and Julio!

Coincidentially, where do you have the Tuesday Meetings? I'm sure the info is somewhere in the forum.... just haven't seen it.
Not sure that I can make it this Tuesday, but i'd like to go to upcoming meetings.

I have some xenia that needs to be saved from itself (grew up to the water line and thus has to be mowed down so it doesnt look nasty or die) and its about time that i "harvest" my rocks...

anyone looking for any xenia? id much rather sell it to locals than get almost no store credit at LFS around here... i gave aquarium concepts a big rock almost covered and i got like $20 for it... and im sure that means they sold it to some poor sap for $40+

mine is exactly like that only i just sewed like 12 pieces to a piece of LR... hopefully they will be healed by the 11th and ill just bring em with me..

depending on how well all 12 survive and heal id take like 25 for the rock with xenia on it... less than i paid for more xenia and this is like my 5th harvest since may when i got it...
