FMAS Frag Swap Meet Sponsored by Eco Reef Aquarium

I would guess that most frags would be $5-10 for most items and $10-20 for the real rare stuff. I usually think that a frag from a person would be about 1/3-1/2 of what a LFS would get.

Not to disagree, but i doubt you'll see "real rare stuff" like some of the harder to find acans, micros, sps like torts, superman monti, etc for $10-20. It still takes a whole lot of time, elctricity, know-how, and a great deal of cherry picking to amass a decent collection.

At $10-20 for rares, we would buy all day long. We'll see, OUR prices will _definately_ be reasonable :p, like the past two years.

BUT we dont want to undercut anyone.

Your right but will we see this really rare stuff at all here. I hope that we do.

If I remember back to last year, I think the cheapest frags I took home were probably close to $10, and good stuff could go to $20. For truly rare stuff, I would expect to pay a little more than that. Then again, size of the frag should also have a big impact on the price.

I'll probably price most of my sps frags (acros and montis) anywhere from $10-$20, depending on size.

I feel its harder to price acro frags because some take a long time to grow onto the disc or I lose 20% of the frags when I make them. I don't think my most expensive acro frag will go above $40.00.

Going to frag my softies today, hope I don't glue myself to my seat. hehe

Yeah, I really need to get to work making my frags too. What's the market like for softies? I have a large pink toadstool that I could take cuttings from, and a nice yellow fiji (that Christy probably won't let me touch, lol). What size would you cut if you were making frags from these?

This was about two and a half months ago, right after I brought it home. It's probably doubled in size, and the base color has deepened significantly. I'm planning to take updated pictures of stuff I'll be fragging for the auction, so I'll post a current one this weekend.

I usually cut quarter sized frags out of my leathers or a little smaller. You can either cut around the rim or cut a corner where the leather naturally creases. If you do cut the elegans be careful, I've found the yellow leathers to be much more delicate than other leathers.

Too bad I can never make it to the mtgs, I could show you guys how to frag a few things. ;] If anyone else has "how to frag" questions, I'd be happy to help you out.

If you want to test the market, I'm interested in a frag of each (assuming the price is right...;))

Let me know if your cutting it up. I've been looking for a nice frag for about 3or4 months.

i cut up one of my leathers, had poor success. only one survived. it is going strong but the others all melted away. I don't know what i did wrong, everyone says they are pretty easy.

i tried superglue, i should try tying it w/ a little fishing line loosely and gluing the fishing line to the rock

In reply to ninjamini...I'm more into the photography thing than the fragging thing. I'm lucky to get anything to grow, let alone frag off of in my tank :twitch:

And that does sound about right for pricing from what I saw last year. I'm looking forward to picking up some nice "little" pieces for my nano and pico tanks ("little" is the key word there...I often purchase the pieces that get broken off in transit from the stores :D ).

Looking forward to seeing everyone there. I'm also looking forward to selling my big stuff and bringing home some smaller stuff.
