I usually treat Prazi within a week whether the fish is eating or not because I've fish that takes anywhere from 2-7.5 weeks before eating and if the fish have internal parasites it may be too late then. It's more important that you you feel the fish is ready for the treatment. If the fish appears to be weak and not eating then it would be better to delay this till the fish is in better shape. Once I see the fish appears to recover from the shipment after couple of days I'll go ahead and treat. This could be debatable (which I don't want to derail this thread) but appears to see more people treating possible internal parasites (with Prazi) and bacterial infection (with Maracyn 2) at the same time and I just followed this track recently. Treating with both meds at the same time seem to be fine.

Do you do one round of Maracyn 2 and two rounds of Prazi Pro?

Thanks for your help,

Robka

Yes, one round of Maracyn 2 and two rounds of Prazi with 25-33% water change in between round.

Thanks so much for the help. I have a small school of Black Bar Chromis in QT right now and am currently treating them. I lost one and did a FW dip in which dozens of flukes came off his body, so I started with the Prazi Pro & M2 treatment. I am in day 4 and all the fish seem to be doing better and one of them ( that wasn't eating before treatment) has started to feed. I am going to add a couple of Wrasse, Kole Tang, and then add a pair of our favorite Angels. In your experience, which would have a better chance of survival the Bellus or Wantanabe? I think they are both very beautiful and would be happy with either one:)

Thanks again,

Robka

Survival rate comes down to the luck of the draw as how long they been in the supply chain and where it's coming from. Buy from reputable stores or online vendors with 14 days live guarantee and you should be fine.

Personal experiences:
2 for 3 on Bellus--2 females are still alive and 1 male died from swim bladder issue

2 out of 5 on Watanabe--2 original females still with me (1 transformed to male), 2 subsequent purchase of females died and 1 male died.

Thanks for the info:) I usually purchase from LA, because u can't beat that 14 day guarantee and they have always given me great customer service. My only complaint is they don't seem to get as many Bellus or Watanabes as some other online dealers, so as soon as I am ready for their addition, I will have to keep an eye out for a couple of small females. With the help of you & others, hopefully I will get this quarantine step down to science so I can keep my fish healthy & happy.

Have a great day,

Robka

just received a 2.5" female so I hope he will get his form back

After 6 days in the container and I was confident no one was going to chase her around she was released and found a nice spot for herself. The male hangs out on the opposite end and I haven't seen him chased her once. Over the last couple of days she's been very comfortable swimming in the open.

Can we put two females together? Would one turn into a male?

Thanks
Frankie
IMO, odds are in your favor...I had 2 females (in separate tanks) and the bigger 1 turned male within 3 weeks of being placed in a new tank, together!

We've had our pair of Bellus Angels for over a year now. Here are a couple of pics:

Hi, there are some beautiful fishes in this thread! I have found 2 females that I like but am unsure which to get. There is a female watanabei and a female bellus. The watanabei has been at the lfs for a month and the bellus for 2. Which would probably be the best to get?

It comes down to personal preference. I like the look of the bellus female more but if it was a male then I would definitely go with the watanabei. As for length in the lfs I don't think it makes much of a difference of extra 4 weeks on the females but for the male I would go with 2 months. There seems to be more decompression issues on the male than female so I would feel better if the lfs had it for at least 2 months.
