For those dosing prodibio bioptim and biodigest

I just read it, however its a bit creepy to hear mortality levels if overdosing at least 2x. And it doesn´t mention prodibio.

As with anything you don't want to OD the bacteria portion nor the carbon source of the "system".

Glassbox-deisgn does use Prodibio bacteria - I just posted one link I saw, search for "VSV" on glassbox-design and you will find everything they've posted.

I'm about 9 weeks in, started reefbooster after 6 weeks. Most of my corals have lost A LOT of color. I'm hoping the color will improve with the weekly reefbooster dosing. I turn the skimmer off overnight after I dose reefbooster, otherwise it goes nuts.

I am currently using prodibio ... I use the bioptim one week and the biodigest the 2nd week ... I just started adding reefbooster this week and I plan on adding it once a month ... I add 3 drops of amino acids (brightwell I think) each night ... for me, I have used this system from day one on this system (now 10 months old) and, it has worked very well for me ... at some point I will likely change to a np biopellet, but, I want to let others continue to try that b/f changing. ultimately, the biopellets would be cheaper for me b/c i will save on prodibio and gfo - but, the risk scares me

Prodibio biodiges / bioptim dosing

Prodibio biodiges / bioptim dosing

I have a 39x24x18 reef setup and thinking about starting to dose the above.

I believe the tank with sump holds around 400 litres of water.
The question is the following:

Its says to dose 1x amp of bioptim per 200 litres of water every 2 weeks so i would dose 2x amp every other other saturday is this correct or just 1x amp of bioptim???

and biodigest it says 1x amp per 1000 litres every 2 weeks so would i dose same saturday as bioptim every other week also as my tank is only 400 litres would i just do half a amp or would one be still ok.

Also can you run ozone with this.

also do you just use it for 6 weeks then stop doing biodigest and bioptim and just dose reefbooster or do u still continue them and also reefbooster

bit confused now doesnt take much lol

Thanks

i am about to start using the prodibio products...what is the recommendatoin way to start.... and dosages..

it is a 150 gallon mixed reeftank...

I've been using biodigest and bioptim with great success. Heavy loading and feeding with no nitrate filtration apart from LR and the nitrates are almost undetectable.

Are people keeping Alk between 7-8 like vodka dosing to avoid burning sps corals???

Did anyone notice the dosage on the prodibio website is different than on the package? Look at the BIODigest, for a 150 gallon tank it's three times as much....

did i read that right that you dont run GFO with prodibio? i always have i dont see a problem with anything. but if things would be better without it i will stop?

thanks larryfl1 anyone else? does anyone run gfo with prodibio? if its redundant then there is no reason to run the gfo.

I just posted in the other forum, so I am redundant:spin1:

From my extensive reading(not experience)it is supposed to be a waste of money on the gfo, and in fact the prodibio is supposed to work better without.

THAT SAID, I'm on week 7, took gfo off after week 3. Since po4 has gone from 0.00 to 0.08 via hanna. I'm starting to get a little nervous. I'd like to be 0.02-0.05. I have been switching out skimmers though, so I'm hoping that has been the issue

Would also like other users info on this

I use both, but hey I enjoy bucking the trend

Bringing this back up to find out how it is going in the long run.

So how is Prodibio working for you?

What are you dosing it with...?

I'd like to also know of any SPS keepers still using any of the Prodibio products like Biodigest etc?

Dosed prodibio lost 2 colonies of blue tip. Other corals responded well but some acros browned out.
Which Prodibio product did you dose? Biodigest? Bioptim? How soon after dosing did the corals mentioned die? Did you test phosphate before and after?

I am resetting my tank with Key Largo Rocks from Marcorocks and have started the cycle by seeding with Biodigest. If you have a successful SPS tank running the Prodibio system or at least main two (Biodigest and Bioptim) then please detail your experiance here.

Many thanks.

Many thanks.

Used both biodigest and bioptim. Before i dosed vodka/vinegar and my tank was fine. I tried this product after a fellow reefer recommended it. Loss a nice acro colony.

Tested phosphate before and after. Both are at zero.

Even though you dosed both, I still find it difficult to place blame on the Prodibio because I have used the Prodibio system on a previous nano tank I had and I dosed the full ampules. Prodibio is one of the slowest acting and safest out of all the carbon dosing systems. You dont even need to have your alk at NSW value either. Plus you were dosing Vodka/Vinegar which is a stronger method relatively speaking.

Did you follow the dosage guidance and dose the Bioptim 14 days after dosing the Biodigest?

PS bump for more input from those who still use the Prodibio system.

I just started using Prodibio again after trying several other nutrient reduction methods in the last year or two. I am just using the Biodigest and Bioptim to start with again. Prodibio seems to be the most effective and least hands on in terms of nutrient reduction. MB7 and RBF worked for me but I would often miss doses and did not achieve the results I got from Prodibio.

I got a bit lazy with my maintenance last year and my reef tank suffered. My SPS starting browning and also started getting cyano as well as some nuisance algae. I am certain my PO4 and NO3 levels are high. I will test in a bit and post the current levels.
