Thanks for comments !

im loving the extreme closeups!!
what lens are you using?
i just asked jroovers the same question..

100mm macro lens (pentax)
but lasts pics were without tripod and iso 400...
I believe to get clearer closeups I should use a tripod and lower the iso to 100...

Tripod will help with clearer shots, if those are hand held scary to think what the tripod shots will look like! Depending on your lighting, I don't think lowering the ISO down to 100 is going to make much difference in the sharpness in your shots - in fact, I'd keep the 400 ISO as it will allow you to use a relatively faster shutter speed and do a better job of freezing the action (as opposed to ISO 100, which will require a slower shutter speed). This is assuming a constant aperture.

Terrific pictures, either way you are already doing something more than right!

I cheat with a sunshield like this :

to stabilise the camera on the glass of the aquarium ;-)
also keeps me perpendicular to the glass !

Jordan do you sharpen your pics afterward ? I just use iphoto (mac) to adjust brightness and white balance.

Whatever works for you - it is indeed working! You may find a tripod though gives you a bit more stability especially when moving around to compose your shots, will definitely give some freedom there.

The first version we had of iPhoto wouldn't convert my raw pics so I've always used DPP and then more recently LR3. Occassionally I'll add a bit of sharpness in LR3, but recently I haven't found the need to. I usually just adjust the WB a bit further, crop if necessary, and employ some luminance noise reduction if necessary. If snow is really bad or if there is one or two biggers snow spots, I'll use the spot removal tool to take them out, but that doesn't happen too often either.

This thread needs updating :D

You're right Sahin !!
Missed this reply ;-)

had another mini crash (still not sure why), colors faded away but are coming back slowly... will need to take some good pics again, but here are some anyways :

Sorry about the crash. But it looks like things bounced back really well. Nice update at the end of the day. Those are some sweet pieces you got there.
