Frag Swap Exceptional Frag Judging POST HERE

I'm still waiting to make the Candy Apple Red frags, too, until I get a #/polyp answer. They seem to be selling for $20/polyp even locally, and I have three people who want to buy them, so I'd prefer a 2 polyp min.

Ron

Ron, the thankless judges will of course get you an answer, but when Paul, Mike and I put the original $35 guideline in place, it was based upon the "resale" market, not the LFS market. Forgive my ignorance, if people are paying $20 a polyp resale for zoas of any kind in Sacramento...

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

War coral: yes w/ linage
nuclear favia: no
MARS Lokani Yes
LE True Safecrackers: no
ATL Valentines Day Massacre Palys 3+

Larry Jackson 2"+

rmrjwieger,
Yes to the Chalice
No to the other unnamed pic unless you have linage and name?

Candy Apple Red frags 3+

I think we're caught up..
I have to converse with Justin via phone now so answers will be slower :(

Also just a question I bought a Tyree Moon Coral almost a year ago and did not think about getting linage do we know how I can get that?

Safecrackers

Safecrackers

Ok Xia said that they were true safecrackers and they were LE when I got them so I thought they were since thats what I was told. I didn't know that all LE corals went through the reeffarmers website I will look on there before I post anything else.

thanks

I will trade you an accepted Exceptional Frag for a frag of the true Safecrackers. LMK

Re: Safecrackers

Not all LE corals go through reeffarmers. Why don't you get with Xia and find out the linage. I am sure if he told you they were LE they have some background. A google search on "LE True Safecrackers" doesn't bring up any reference to where they came from.

rmrjwieger : Like funman1 said, yes to the chalice, please have frag contain at least one eye size may vary to accomodate this.

can you provide more information about this acro? Specie, coloration, and/or fruity name if it has one ;)

I say yes to a 3+ polyp frag of this acanthastrea (FYI:sometimes referred to as a wine sifter type morph due to the coloration), unless my ruling gets overriden

3310066386_be764817a9_m.jpg

(I would say a 4+ polyp frag of this would be OK)
3309237145_dcac9c4d5f_m.jpg

(I would say a 5+ polyp frag of this would be OK; your other posting with the colorful acro and the red and green Oxpora or Echinophyllia chalice both yes; acro 1.5+", chalice 1+", chalice preferrably with an 1 eye but not necessary if you provide a good size frag. Think thats all?)

Again, unless my my vote gets overturned ;) Very nice LPS collection btw  As far as lineage and aquiring it from past purchases, it's not really something you can retrieve. Usually mention of a reputable dealer, and/or respected and known hobbyist is sufficient.

As far as the LE business, please dont think that it has to be an LE to make the grade. It's just that more often than not, ones that are an LE (which was deemed originally and still is maintained by Steve Tyree on reeffarmers websight. It's a good reference to widely accepted exotic corals in the trade, but not the only source/supplier.

From my count all but 1 were approved? funman1 and I conversed briefly while I was driving a 26ft deisel so some things may have got lost in translation is all. For the non approved acro, more info is necessary to gauge a good judgement on the piece, which may or may not influence it qualifying for the EF spot.

And no, you dont want your husband having my job...I'll be being layed off within 3 weeks possibly. All my OT is collecting the locations that use to be part of my rout, basically Im working the means to my own end...going out with a bang you could say...
