tank depot- locally
Its easy just like the old spanish saying translated off course: "with a little bit of patience and saliva the elephant.........:
lol

I don't think that say applies to you. You seemed soaked in saliva! :D

Finally a decent update

Finally a decent update

Much has changed- I did away with some of my old colonies and started from frags and other corals I've been after over the years.
kept some fragged some and traded some.

Lights - 3x 250 hammies 14k for growth and some actinic supps- this will all change in a couple of months back to my preference for colors radiums 20k's

Flow was diminished from 5 tunzes to 3 and the two vortechs where placed opposite of each other to facilitate flow around my initial reef structure.

Livestock currently includes:
1 black tang
1 yello tang
1 hybrid yellow scopas
1 moorish Idol
1 spotted rabbit
1 hippo
1 majestic
1 4 line wrasse
1 yellow assesor
2 mated percs_have them for over 5 years now.
1 yellow coris

All in all the tank has taken off and colors are starting to come back after several alk spikes and so forth. Some of my browned out critters and starting to respond to the twice a month WC and some TLC.

:D Me likey! Thank you very much for sharing!! It's looking great, definitely a change from the 210 as far as rockscape.

How do you like the hamilton 14k? I HATED them when i ran them originally, too blue, not much brightness. What ballasts are you running them on?

I love the tank and am very appreciative that you put up a new FTS :)

Manny, where did you get those water containers? I am using a 34g brute and I would like to change it to something a little larger plus something a little more sturdier. Beautiful setup, I hope to one day be able to grow the corals and critters that you have.

I got one of those blue 55g containers from a nursery in homestead for $20 with a very good lid, like brand new... It was used to store fruit with that luctose syrup, just bleached it, let it sit over night, poored it all out, scrubbed it, then filled it again with a 4L vinegar mix, let it sit for another day or two and couldn't smell a thing, works great.

Erick I don't like them but corals are growing and I will soon change my bulbs. i'm taking advantage of the grwoth vs the color first.
E-hamilton ballasts BTW
The tank is 6 months so all in al the growth has been good.

Man your tank is really starting to look awesome!

I'm going to take your advice and upgrade my lighting to 400 watt MH soon. Do the hammies really make the corals grow that much faster than the radiums?

how is the sch working out for you?
Brian the SCH at first I felt spoiled LOL-but "

It is not only the automatic cleaning who makes the maintenace easier.
A consitently clean skimmer w/o unchanged surface tension (if you clean your skimmer by hand with freshwater it needs some time till it works again well). Saltwater makes the skimmer work uninterrupted at 100%.
Skimmate has improve I would venture to say 30-40%
! :eek1:

yea i guessed it would. it must be nice. i considered a diy job. but i am not going to be able to free any time up for another month or so for the project. what is its schedule? are you still cycling it once a day?

Update

Update

As I revive this thread from the underground . I finally got my system skinned and I'm very happy with the results.
I don't have much time to fiddle around with my tank but at 8 months all is well.

last upgrade will be 3 400 watts pendants that should go up this week.

Sorry for the lack of cleaning the back glass.
The tank has not seen a new coral in quite a while but as soon as my new lights are up ITS ON AGAIN LOL.
