Getting a little cyano...

On the rock pile farthest away from the mp40 in my 40 breeder.

I cranked up the intensity on the wave and pointed the return on the patch.

Should I worry about blacking the tank out, or give it a week to see how the flow adjustments pan out?

On a side note, I was planning on adding a jabeo to the 75 gal in the future. What model would you recommend to pair with a mp40 in a standard 75?

Skimming. Chaeto and water changes.

Tested po4 with Red Sea kit was
.08

Nitrates have always been under 10

Getting a little cyano...

There's also a dsb in the fuge, but the tank is still young

Could be young tank stuff, but I personally don't believe po4 is always directly related to cyano. I have similar po4 to you, and have at times had a fair amount higher, and have never had any cyano. I skim heavily and wet, run carbon and gfo in small amounts. But I have a whole lot of flow.. One wp25 set on high, two nano 425's, a koralia 600 and 600gph return all in a 57g tank.

I run a octopus 110 and skim fairly wet as well, so I'm inclined to think flow. Freshwater high flow and reef high flow are different I suppose. The short pulse was only at about 30% power and my return is only a mag 3

I have cyano as well. I also have high flow, close to 40X. I think mine is directly related to my over feeding. I've been feeding less and it seems to be getting better. But my ATS is really starting to take off to, so that might be helping as well.

Are you sucking out the patches of cyano?

It should run its course since the tank is still young. Just keep on top of it and your nutrients, suck out the patches with water changes and go from there.

I would use 2 wp25 so you can split the flow up and direct it where you need it vs one 40..but they have such high flow you ccould probably get by with one of either until the coral starts blocking the flow

If I could do it again I would get 3 of the wp25. Currently I have a wp25, wp40 and a korolia 750. I have plenty of flow if you look at gph but I was still getting dead spots with just the 25 and 40

I'm running the vortech mp40 and just ordered a wp25 for the opposite end. Hopefully it'll help
