Getting color back after tank catastrophe

A few weeks back I had a major heater malfunction in my frag tank and lost nearly all of my SPS. What survived (a medium colony and some frags of ORA Screaming Green Birdsnest, a small colony of green pocillipora, a medium colony of green Bali Slimer, a small frag of Ultimate Blue Stag and a few others) is now very browned out. Good polyp extension, still very much alive but lacking in coloration now. Anything besides good husbandry that can help bring the color back to my corals?

Nothing more you can do except wait and it will take some time for them to color back up. Sorry to hear about the loss. I lost all mine 2 yrs ago and rebuilt.

Z nut is right. Just wait it out. What happened with the heater? I have never used a heater till now and I worry about it. I lost a 260 full of sps. At least 10k worth of stuff due to an auto top off. Never again

Heater stuck on. Small tank= fast catastrophe when something goes wrong. I now have a RKL to override the heater and hopefully prevent this from happening again.

Good idea, I think the controllers are a necessity to control the heater. Then use the heaters thermostat as a fail safe, not as the primary mechanism.

yea... I've read so many situations on this recently that it's freaked me out to the point of buying an ac-jr with a dc8 to run my tank :-\

Controllers are great. I've never trusted heaters because all of they are made cheap. I use two 300 watt heaters both used on the controller. One of the heaters is for backup only.
