Ghellin's 180 build.

Wow, you did a great job. That looks fantastic with the doors attached.

As a type, I'm watching some ominous clouds roll in, so I've really started thinking about DR.

What are you doing in regards to generators, chillers, etc.? I have a "portable" generator at home; I'm not sure my wife will be happy if I sacrifice the freezers and tank at home (as well as A/C and TV) to save the tank at the office.

Plus, I'm not sure what I'll do about the warmer evenings this summer.

Stand and canopy look great. The doors really set it off.

Thanks!

Really looks nice! Great finishing touches!

Thanks!

I plan to pick up a generator this summer, Hopefully...

Fortunately getting down to one tank is helping to relieve me of many stresses and work. I don't have a chiller and have not planned on needing one as we generally keep the house very cool. I rely mostly on fans/evap to reduce heat when it becomes an issue.

Also I hope to be getting a new AC in the house later this spring which would help ease some concerns.

Now that is has been almost a month and the new baby is doing great, its back to the tank. Newly added T5 retro fits. Two 80 watt bulbs, I plan to use ATI blue+ bulbs when I get money again lol.

I finally have added a hat to my skimmer!!! I have been wanting a Reef Octopus automatic neck cleaner for years! Had the perfect amount of clearance as well.

I also removed my DSB as I wanted to redo my fuge.

What a amazing build!!
I just broke down my 90 but am planning a DSA 190 With a lifereef next year.
Question? What did you think of the DSB. Outstanding idea putting it in a tub by the way.
Did it have any efect. I have read reef invertebrates cover to cover about a 1000 times and anthony calfo swears by them

terrific build and congratulations on baby!!

Thank you very much!

I have to admit I got the idea from Dr. Paul Whitby so I can't take the credit! But I will say that if i ever do one again a tub will be used. Clean up was easy as can be. I closed the gate valve to the fuge and drained the entire section like for a water change. scooped out the sand and pulled the container. Filled it back up with fresh saltwater and opened the valve. never even had to kill the return pump.

I ran the DSB for 6 months and the sand at 1" depth smelled like fresh sand with zero detritus. I am not sure how effective it was, but now with my skimmer and water change habits I imagine i will not have any nutrient issues. All my tanks seem to end up as ultra low nutrient systems unfortunately. My plan is to simply fill the sump with as much live rock as I can and depend on LR for denitrification.

makes sense

makes sense

I am going with a lifereef 200S with a 15 gallon fuge plumbed in. Toying with the idea of a DSB in the fuge and going 1/2 in the DT. Going with a offset overflow DSA 190.

I've had a couple of lifereef skimmers. I really liked them.

I have always wanted a better water system to eliminate buckets. I am now a huge step closer to a bucket free setup.
