I thought that I was the onl cheapskate in the hobby, but my God bro... Some of this stuff is genius. I still can't get over the salt bucket skimmer on the first page. Definitely following.
Time to join the party. I posted this picture in a different forum and it seems to have unnerved a couple folks. Maybe my madness can be appreciated here?
Yes, it's a mobile stand.
It currently supports a 29 bio cube.
If i have to move it, I siphon the water and move it, then fill it up again.
It's on a hard floor and the casters swivel, rolls with ease.
Each set of casters supports 200lbs.
I had forgot about this thread. Im finishing up building a 18x20 fish room off the back of my house to hold the sumps and frag tanks but for now I have a 135g sump running in my dinning room equipped with 3 very loud skimmers, 2 return pumps running, and a very affordable chiller running on the far right side. this thing is so crazy loud I cant barely even hear my tv when I have the volume at 55.... Not the most ghetto of ghettos but everyday I go a little more in that direction. I do however feel the 35g ATO tote I added today is not ghetto, nor is the bucket I have the surge protector sitting in.
sooo. the pumps, skimmers, and fan were too loud to hear the TV. here is the temp fix until I can get my fish room done. Going on a duct tape run now...
I need to cut a hole for the fan to intake fresh air I guess.... always something
Pulled the rest of the bioballs out of my sump, put them in the old salt bucket for a make shift sump with biofiltration for a hospital tank for ALL my fish.
Haven't added much on here for a while...
So here's the temporary tank (after a year!)
Sump connected via an overflow box made from two plant pots, a swimming pool "eyeball" outlet, and a washing machine waste fitting...
Siphon is kept running by airline inside the top of the "bridge" connected to the Venturi of a tiny powerhead...
Lighting was from a single 18wt actinic which had replaced the original tropical tube, but in order to fit in two X 55wt Red Sea Max 50/50s, needed to keep the BTA alive, I had to built a plinth for the lid to sit on...
I recently made this ATO for my 29 bio cube.. it utilizes a small power head some clear tubing a float switch with 1/2" pvc and suction cups ( silicone in place one the high level is established) and relay and the container is a slim Tupper ware type container so it all fits into the display cabinet with a chiller
