GHL Mitras Club

If just now this one in this configuration for 1 month.
And to ask for excuses my English is not very fluid

My friend; not everyone speaks English. So its quite fine. Thank you for participating in this thread. And welcome to Reef Central. :D

Yaris, first of all thank you for posting and please continue to post. Don't let people taking cheap shots discourage your desire to post information. Some people like to just poke fun at others or plain just don't understand that other languages are spoken differently than ours. So welcome to rc and please post about your experiences with mitras good or bad. Alot of us actually do care about people have to say to base decisions on what direction they might go with products.

I have joined the Mitras club and am running one unit over my 100x100x50 tank and it has replaced a ATI 39wx10 fixture.
Have had it on for 1 week so far.
Initial thoughts were wow shimmers crazy but have adjusted to it now.
Program seemed pretty hard at first but am starting to get use to it now.
All corals are going well with greens starting to get a bit deeper colouration.
Time will tell how the rest react

@this is me, ur a dick, how's that for good 'ol English?

@Yaris, thanks for posting and welcome!

First of all I have to say that I don't understand why some people think that it is ok to type things in a forum that they wouldn't say in person, why they think it is ok to be an *** when they are anonymous..

Yaris, please continue to contribute! Just because you weren't born speaking English does not mean your input is any less valuable.

I'm very curious to see how your brand new tank develops under the mitra.

Buller, your tank looks great. The mitra seems to do the 40 inch spread with ease. What is the intensity that you have it set at? Or what is the intensity it was set at when the photo was taken?
I know that photographs posted on line are not always ideal representations of reality but I really like the look of the light. Bright and white. Not too blue but still makes the corals colour up well.
Can you post a few more shots?

Doesn't GHL's new Mitras LX 6100 LED pendant cover this Spectrum? they claim 4oonm>

If you look at the "Color peaks" spectral graph - yes, it first seems that the pendant has a strong peak in 400-430nm range. We have shown, however that the total optical power of violet LEDs should be roughly equal to that of Royal Blues. In the GHL pendant the violet peak is only distinctive when white and Royal Blue are OFF. If we look at their subsequent graphs, it is clear that the amount of violet radiation is negligible when white and RB are at full power. This pendant can provide the correct spectrum only in the mode when white an blue are dimmed down perhaps to 10% of maximum power. I wouldn't call this mode economical, since each lamp cost is around 945 euro.

Another disadvantage is that the LEDs on these lamps are not equipped with proper TIR optics. Reflectors, especially their tiny reflectors, are far less efficient than TIR lenses.

The violet peak doesnt dissapear when the whites are on, the whites and blues fill up the peak to smooth it out, the violet is still in there.

The recess of the LED provides what is needed to focus the light, PAR was higher during my testing over the radion...im assuming your referring to radion because of the TIR lens, the tiny reflectors actually blend the light and eliminate spotlighting

The Radion is missing the important part of this Spectrum as well.
As stated, the number must match that of the Royal Blues. These LEDs were just released, so new they are not even mounted to Stars yet.
There is a Article that explains all this in great detail, but I'm not sure if I can Link the Article here.

Thanks mate,
I have the light at around 100% at 10k for about 2 hours and the rest at 80% varying from 13k to 22k.
Here are a couple more pics:wave:

Your tank is beautiful. I love the scape. Very natural looking. The dimensions of you tank are fantastic, also and I am extremely impressed with how well the mitras covers the entire rock work.
You have to post more pics down the road!
I can't wait to see how the stylophoras and seriatoporas do long term, but also I can't wait to see how your whole tank develops.
Really nice.
I know this isn't the place but could you give us a quick rundown of your system?

Thank you all for your encouragement to continue publishing (I will) and I see some very spectacular aquariums, but that start completely under the light of the mitras think there are none because the screen I think is quite new on the market . With time and dedication they are a summary of materials and addition, so they can advise and share experiences.

Thanks to all

Welcome to the Mitras club and RC! Ignore the ignorant as they know not what they do.

@buller100 Your tank looks amazing...

I am considering leds for my forth coming 290 gallon tank. It's dimensions are 60"L x 36"W x 29"H. I am curious as to how many GHL mitras would be needed to cover the tank? I see they are producing 36" of coverage. Is that coverage a square shape or a rectangle shape with less coverage on the ends? I only keep leathers, mushrooms and ricordia right now since I love angels. Your owner input would greatly be appreciated.

Hey tremelle, I am an owner, but net yet an actual user of the mitras.
I would say that you would comfortably get by with two units over your tank with the livestock you want to keep.
My research into the lights and the info I have gathered from trolling the mitras threads is that you would be very well served by two, hung perpendicular to the tank.
My next tank will be 53x 32.5x 26 high and I plan to run 3 mitras because it will house sps exclusively and I want every square inch of the tank to be well lit.
For your needs, the mitras will light up a 36x30 area very effectively, I believe.

I would agree, with that stocking list, good to go. I'm 28" wide and at 20cm above the water I've had to dial back my peak to 80%.

M007 and reefmutt, thanks for the opinions. That makes the total cost a little easier to swallow since I was considering 4 Radions.
