If running parallel then 2 fixtures ;)

Thank you! I'm so excited...can't wait. A buddy was mocking me a few days ago while discussing the build and tried to say I'd need four.

Showed off my fixture to my reef club last weekend. They were impressed but of course they couldn't get past the price...it seems that it's all people hang on and that I'm an idiot. Can't wait to prove it with long term results.

I had this same dilema with my 72 X 24 X 29 , I ended up ordering three to be on the safe side.

In the very early planning stages of a custom 180g 72*24*24. Would you guys suggest 3 or 4 fixtures? Will be keeping the 40 running so I'm trying to figure out what I need for this new system.

How exciting!! I hope to see a build thread so we can follow it as it comes together :)

I know you get asked this question a hundred times but how many mitras would I need to cover a 48"x36" sps tank?

You'd be fine with two running perpendicular to the tank like this || as they will light up a 24-30 inch by 36 in area very well..
If you want crazy light put 3.. But as Micheal has said before, you could start with two and see how they do..
My future tank will have two and the dimensions are 53 in. X 32.

Cool, I was hoping two would work. I have been running halides and everything is looking great and growing like crazy but I really want to switch to LED's for the obvious reasons. My tank is a matured SPS reef with tons of large colonies and Im still a little worried that they might not take to the change of lighting. Is there any pics of a mature reef running mitras? Thanks for the response, Jay

I think I am going to take the LED plunge and Mitras seem to be the perfect candidate. Im a little scared but its something I have to do.

Jay that is an awesome tank! You will very happy with the Mitras. I'll be curious to see how much faster your corals grow and colors pop when compared to your 400W Radiums.

New growth shot added.

Thats an awesome growth . Do you run carbon dose system? how low do you keep red dragon?

I am using Warner Marine ecoBAK biopelletes and really like em'. I got the Red Dragon about a month before I got the Mitras and in the first month the growth wasn't like it is now. Recently I was in New Jersey for two weeks and when I got back I could notice the growth in a few of my other acros as well.

I'm impressed with the lights so far. My challenge is knowing I am using the right spectrum to maximize both growth and color. On the top of my Mitras wish list would be a button to set the light output to a match a Ushio 14K MH lamp.
