Anybody have trouble getting the halides to fire? I just received my new spectra along with new Luxcore 250/400 watt ballasts and radium bulbs. The ballasts came with an adaptor to mate to the spectra. I just had to wire it up. And when I plug it in, nothing! No noise, no flicker, nothing. I have the ballast on the 250hqi setting. Any thoughts?

Is it possible the wiring you did to the adapter is backwards? When I did mine I made that mistake.

I just double checked that and the wiring is correct per the instructions...

Did they give you a converter to go from 220 to 110?

This is all I was given. White adaptor connects directly to spectra. Black end plugs into ballast

I've found I had problems with the ballasts, not the Spectra, for the MH. Leave it all on for a while, maybe 30 min to an hour. If all lights aren't coming on double check your wiring and call the vendor. If only some lights come on then that's a start.

I did have problems with some T5s making contact at first. I just needed to make sure they were properly seated.

I can try that. I just wasn't sure if it was bad to leave the ballasts on for an extended period if the bulbs weren't firing? The T5's fired right up no problem, it's just the two MH

Make sure that the radium bulbs are screwed all the way in. I had the same problem with my Spectra when I got it a couple of years ago.

Yeah, I've tried the bulbs loose, tight, and everything in between... I've tried several different outlets on different circuits. I'm at a lose....
here is a pic of the wiring. The left side is the spectra, right is the ballast. Directions state white-brown, black-blue, green-green...

Hey, I joined the club and purchased a 48" Matrix II for my LED\T5 hybrid project. Upon tearing down the fixture I found that they use HEP Group Ballasts and not german made Phillips ones that the product description claims. Why did Giesemann cheap out?

They are siliconed down. I took a couple off a few weeks back to replace with ATI ballasts and LEDs. :D

Get a breadknife or a thin chisel underneath. The silicone holds pretty tight so some force is needed.

I really want to do this as well did you find it made a difference with the t5 output?

Also how hard was it to re wire eveything

I just picked up a 36" Aurora fixture for a new build. If I'm not mistaken, the software to run the light requires an Android device. I know nothing of Androids (I have an IPhone). I was going to pick up an inexpensive tablet. Will the "Fire" tablets work for the software?

Figured this is better place to post
Wtb 24" se fixture halide please lmk

Just got this tank up and running for about 3 weeks. Finally using the Spectra fixture I intended to use 4 years ago.
Tank is 72"x48"x24". The fixture is doing a great job but you can definitely see some shadowing from the higher rock structure. I'm thinking on adding another identical fixture if I want to go all out on SPS. I absolutely love the fixture!

You can see the light ray and see where the shadow is being cast from the rock.

Nick incredible tank! I assume you had another system up an running? How wide is the tank? I'm setting up a much smaller tank with the 24" spectra but plan on using a few Kessil LEDs to help with any shadowing.

Choss,
I has an Elos 160XL prior to this tank. I didn't run the Giesmann on the Elos, I ran the Elos Aquaplanet II fixture as it was designed for that tank. The Elos has been transferred to the Miracle tank above for about 3 weeks now.
I only have the Miracle to take care of and it's enough lol. The tank dimension is 72"x48"x24".

Hi all,

Ended up picking up the Aurora T5/LED Hybrid 36" during BRS's black friday sale for my new tank build, 25% off! Can't beat that.

I noticed that there seems to be a power cord for the LED and another one that runs straight to the ballast for the T5s, and then from the ballast, a power cord to the wall outlet. I am hanging this fixture from my wall mounted cabinets above my tank and will be running the cords down through the wall. As it currently sits, I would have to mount the ballast in the back off my wall cabinet, and use an extension cable to run the power cord from the ballast to the wall outlet located near the floor, as the 4 prong cable is not long enough to run all the way through the wall. I was hoping to be able to mount the ballast inside of the floor cabinet where the wall outlet is.

Does anyone know if there is an extension cable for the 4 prong cable that connects from the light fixture to the ballast?

Well it is one of the nicest tanks I have seen and frankly I personally don't mind a little shadow - looks kind of natural. Looking forward to seeing some more pics. Do you have a build thread?
