Despite my best efforts tosave the gigantea my friend bought its on its way out. after adding way more flow and stirring up the sand causing a small spike everything is under control and probably better than ever.
So the question a pair of my clowns that has adopted this thing are about to be homless and i dont want that to happen. Is there any other anemones that would like these conditions. Obviously clean water and high light (400wattMHs) butt most importantly I have alot of flow now especially in that area. so I need something that likes heavy flow and I'm hopeing it will have some color. I would really like another carpet but they've never seemed to like the flow so any suggestions?

Heres a new pic of the anemone.

the gigantea is still very sticky. still looks like crap and is lying on the bottom. should i remove it or let it be for now?

get it out it will disintegrate so use a plastic container to get it out ir you use a net chunks will go everywhere

all anemones like your conditions try a BTA to start the skunks will host it given time

I've seen dead giganteas that remain sticky.
The tentacles would stick to my fingers as it was falling apart.
Yah, it would be best to take it out when it looks like that.

k, Will a sebae work for a replacement? do they like flow? I've never tried one, are they hard to keep Or just hard to get started since there all bleached?

I tried to remove it but a small part of its foot is still attached. when ibumped it around it blew back up heres a new pic. they like alot of flow right? should i lower the flow for now or leave it be?

MarinaP, I was just checking again before i remove it since it was showing signs of life. I'd hate to kill an undead anemone if its not neccesary. A simple answer would have been fine. If it angers you to the point of talking down to someone in order to answer again the please just pass on bye and spread your "love" somewhere else. Thanks for your first reply though. ;)

What angres me is your lack of knowledge about giganteas and inability to aquire some. Search engine and FAQs on RC, WWM are all good resources.

You purchased an animal that you do not know how to care for, and you are not willing to listen to what RC members have to say to you.

If you took your time and read the very first post you would see i did not purchase to thing it came from a friend who had a two week old tank with no flow and very little light. He purchased it as a carpet. It wasn't doing very well and the store wouldn't take it back so I told him i would take it and give it a try, cause it had a better chance in a mature tank. The search engine doesnt work unless your a premium member and I dont recall asking any questions that required a search. I was hoping to talk to someone who had one or expierience with them. Unfortunatly all I'm getting is some jack*** who would rather complain than answer a simple question. Thats what RC is about. Its people like you that keep people from asking questions because there afraid of being talked down to like little kids. I'm sorry your having a bad day/life but take your bull crap to somewhere else.

good for you reefpimp...you want to know why I stopped posting my questions on RC? because instead of actually reading your posts people give you some BS answer that shows they didn't even pay attention to what you asked. if I were you I would shoot your question over to Calfo on the marine depot forums...he'll give you a thoughtful, knowledgable answer, without talking down to you

That anemone will not last much longer. It it make you feel any better, wait until it start to fall apart then take it out. I did the same thing. I did not remove my S. gigantea until it is dead. I have to take a small bucket to scoop the smelly mush out of my tank.

you did what you could it was doomed from the begining dont let anyone make you angry
Sebae is hard to get a good specimin of
take your time getting the right anemone takes time

thank you,I'll remove it before it gets ugly. I appreciate a reply with an actuall answer and not a verbal spanking.

I agree with most that say that it wont last much longer, however, I would have done just what you have done if I seen the anemone go from looking really really bad l

You were going to do as people suggested and get it out, but when you bothered it , it did perk up a bit.

It still does not look good by any means, but I, like you , would have seen a glimmer of hope and I would not have just tossed an animal that looked like it was dying. I would have done just what you did. I would have came here seeking help/advise and I would have hoped that the condescending people wouldn't be around. All of the people here arent bad, just a select few that tend to drive people away. I used to post often in this forum, but am now more of a lurker. Going to another forum will not get you any better answers than you will get here. There are likely condescending people over at that other forum as well.

S. giganteas do like a LOT of flow, but not a sharp jet stream. A very wide dispersed gentle flow, but lots of it if that makes any sense. Bouncing powerheads off of the front glass and preferable a powerhead with the wide flow patterns (Tunze, Seio, etc..). If you could get those on a timer to give the anemone a rest every few seconds/minutes would be ideal. (Surge tanks would be best :D) . Another way to provide a nice gentle flow is an open end air bubbler.

Generally giganteas will prefer warmer waters (82-86) but in this case I would keep the temp around 80. Keep the lighting as strong as possible.
Keep an eye on it and if it does disinegrate, use a large diameter siphon hose to suck it out. Make damned sure that the hose is long enough so you dont get a mouthful. Keep the skimmer functioning well and run some carbon aggressively. Good luck!

Very nice logical response Rod. You were very understanding and considerate while actually answering pimps questions.

Pimp I am sorry your efforts appear to have failed. Better luck next time.
