Well, since some of this set up has actually made it's way into the house, I thought it was about time I showed everyone.
I ordered a 120 gallon through Reef Connections in Chico over a year ago and got it in July 2010 and there it sat this last spring when I finally got my dad to build the steel stand. Had it powder coated (which I don't know that I would do again) and then went looking for a woodworker to make the skin, side cabinets, and canopy. I finally found Tracy Wilson who owns Wilson's Woodworking in Sac who has been great to work with and did an amazing job on the base cabinetry. (tracywilsonwoodworking.com)
Stand Placed!
I wanted to finish the cabinetry myself so here it is unfinished but in place. I plan on staining it black.
The canopy is still coming. I'm having a hard time getting stainless piano hinges delivered to Tracy in one piece. UPS seems to have something against these things. Here is the basic design of the canopy from another thread here on RC. The style will match the base cabinets.
Lighting - I built an LED/T5 combo "fixture" with help from Josh. It will need to be redone to work the way I want it to in the canopy. I'm currently using this red neck style hanging over the edges of my 36" 50 gallon because my old lights failed before I got the new tank set up.
I painted the back of the tank black. I had to do some touch ups so the tank didn't get moved in today.
The sump is complete but I forgot get pics of it. Nothing fancy, just a 40 breeder with baffles. Skimmer and return pump purchased and waiting installation. Don't expect this to be a high tech/fancy build. Simple has worked for me for a long time so I'm sticking with it.
Will post more when I get the tank in and maybe even some plumbing done. The plan is to put in a Herbie overflow but I need to track down the plans for that again.
