An interesting situation has developed and I'd like some opinions on which way to proceed.

We have an offer from PFO Lighting to come to St. Louis and demonstrate their products and I would really like to have a meeting hosted by PFO. I have yet to see a meeting here with a non-local supplier presenting their products.

My first thought is to go for it. I think that this would be a good meeting and that we could possibly even get another non-local vendor to make it the same day.

My problem is that the only available day that PFO can make it is the 24th of March. This happens to be the same day that SEASL is going to Inland.

I know that many of our members are a member of both clubs and I don't want to have to make anyone choose between clubs. On the other hand, I have to think about SLASH and do what I consider to be best for our club regardless of what another club may be doing on that day.

Opinions from members please.

Well regardless of what you decide to do remember one thing, you will not make absolutly everyone happy with whatever choice you make. Therefor my opinion is too do what is best for SLASH. But, that is just my opinion.

Wes

No specific number of people required Jeff. I just don't want folks to think that I'm doing this purposely.

I tend to agree with you Wes.

go for it

there isnt' a single day in the year that works for everybody

hopefully most of the people in our club that want to go to inland went last weekend and can make it to the PFO meeting

I would say PFO...Inland trips are easy to schedule and I am sure that the B.O.D. of SEASL understand that. This is a good thing for all of the membership.

Have the meeting. As all have said, not everyone will be happy. What does their presentation entail and include? Any dicounts?

Levi,

I have'nt asked about discounts but they have offered to donate a 175 Metal Halide Retro Kit for a raffle.

I can ask about discounts but I personally would not hold my breath. Maybe they can make a deal with Mark and he could pass it on to us or possibly do a group buy type of thing.

Getting back to your original question Levi .... Joy would be demonstrating their new line of Solaris lighting.

I say have it, inland is a waste of time IMO.

Tis my opinion as well...

It would be a tough call if SLASH hadn't just went to Inland Aquatics. However, our members are not going to have to choose between the two since they just went. I don't see a conflict in this case.

Being a member of both clubs also, I still think you should have it that day if PFO is offering. Inland is a cool place to visit and make a road trip, once. And maybe again if it is in your travel path or just for the heck of it. I think all of SEASL's 1st year members SHOULD go to Inland. But it does tend to be a lower turnout. Although usually it's in Jan and many times the weather may decrease the turnout but there are a lot of members who have been there already, possibly more than once that don't really want to spend the whole day on the road. I plan to miss the trip regardless of whether PFO comes to town or not. Even though I enjoyed seeing Inland and probably will go back again it's one of those things you really have to be in the mood for.

I don't know i was hopig to get some of those red bugs that i have heard so much about!!
J/K

Go for the presentation!, inland is a long drive and some can't spend the whole day out of town, that is unless this will take 7 hours????

i am new here and not a member of both but we are are own club, and i beleive this is a reschedule?

what ever is fine but if this is the only date we can get, sorry for the others!!

If I had a tank up and running I would have gone with our club last weekend.
Since I am still trying to set things up I would rather go to a meeting with PFO.

Stop trying to be a good guy, they are probably mad that SLASH made a trip to Inland last week anyway.

I say bring on PFO!! since this is the best time for them we can make it work. I got it in my Calendar.. :D

Thanks for the opportunity Joy, look forward to meeting you!!

Tis my opinion as well...

nice you just slapped both clubs in the face, and then you just slapped all people that just went on the trip and liked it.

where else can you look top down on a tank the size of a swimming pool? and see real full grown tangs? and huge sps colonies?

In recent conversations with the PFO rep, Joy, she indicated that she would really appreciate it if we pick a time when all of us in the two clubs are available so she can maximize her time and effort. It would be great if we can coordinate a date that works for everyone, especially Joy, since she will be travelling from Chicago to meet everyone.

Greg, when you talk with Joy next, would you be willing to coordinate a date with her that works for both clubs schedules based on the open dates she mentioned that she has in April and May? It would be great to show Joy what a strong reefing community we have here.
