Glover Family Reef 475G DT 640G TSV

Things are moving quickly now, too quick..

The tank is built and crated and expected to ship today, Friday 11/9/12. :spin2: I found a mover experienced in moving large tanks for only about $350 via a conversation with the LFS owner.:celeb2:

The contractor has not built the stand yet :furious: and that is going to be an issue next week. I planned to have the stand match the counter tops but Home depot has to cut the quartz. I really don't want to have to lift the tank to install the quartz after the tank has been placed.

Good news!! Just hung up with the contractor and he is going to build the stand Sunday. Thinks we can use a filler for now and slide the tank to install the quartz. Thank goodness.:)

Plan to run the plumbing this weekend which looks to be a real job with drywall having to be removed and up threw the floor gonna be a tight fit with the basement ceiling drywalled. Need to run 3 (2 returns and 1 feed) 1.5" flex spa pipes and 1 1" (1 feed) flex spa pipe.

Water storage stand built and set up last night. Just ordered 2 new pumps (Iwaki WMD-20RLXT (American Motor) 540 GPH) from Bulk Reef Supply, one for mixing and the other to feed the refug. Current Iwaki 70 is way to much and overflow can't keep up past about 1/2 way.

Better run 2 more 20 amp lines while I have the hole in the ceiling open.

I'll take some pictures tonight of what I got done and post them.

I met my tank today!!! I have to say I am super excited to be bringing this
Gem home tomorrow.. Pictures of her resting in her new home tomorrow!

Ohhhhhhhhhhh no!!!!!!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhh no!!!!!!!

Always Always Always do a good job inspecting of your tank before signing for it. Tank was loaded into the truck and all looked great.

Said I better take off all the cardboard before I sign for it, no visiable sign of damage to the exterior, but better safe than sorry.

What to my horror did I see! :hmm6: A corner chip in the glass!!!!!

After very close inspection of the packaging a what appeared to be a very slight fork from a forklift had grazed the tank popping a corner chip out of the glass!!!!

Shipment refused and returned to vendor.

4 weeks to build a new one.

After all the bad things I had read about Glasscages customer service I want to be clear, today they where super helpful and guided me what to do and said they would start building a tank from scratch tomorrow to replace the damages one. They stressed NOT to accept the tank no matter how small the chip was or where it was. Very happy they way they handled it. Time will tell on how they follow-up on this. We will be nearly 2 months from the day I paid for the tank until I actually receive it, again. Not by any fault of theirs.

Man I am so sorry for you. All that progress only to be setback another 4 weeks. Good thing is you did get great customer service. Sucks that you have to wait now.

Great build out so far, looking forward to the finished product. If I can give you one
suggestion in regards to the tank stand. I notice on the rear of the stand where your ledger
ties into the wall studs, you have a plate screwed into the studs underneath. I would change that out and make it into a jack stud, this would allow you to carry the weight directly into the floor and use the wall as an anchor (just the engineer in me :) ).

The contractor designed and built the stand. I will pass it along but he tied it into that wall because it is a load barring (sp) wall that goes all the way to the concrete basement floor. Considerable more support was added to the rear after that picture and the front sits over a steel beam.

Ah, cool just lending my 2pennies to another reef-keeper.

any updates looks like a great build!
