Go Big OR Go Home! Construction of a 1000 gallon System!!

Bravo!!! I'm looking for stand models and I like yours. I have a question though. I don't see a brace in the front or the back. What would prevent it to fold sideways? Sorry for my lack of structural knowledge :)

Nice work on your tank Mike. I had another reefer question me about my reflectors, which are exactly like the one you have. I thought it was a Lumenarc III when I bought it off propertyroom.com but I think it is actually an older version just called a "Diamond". Check your label. I think they work great but I wanted to pass along my confusion about what unit that really is! :D

Yea either way they were only about $30 each .....I think one has no label and the other says Diamond........Oops dont me to jack the thread.

There actually is bracing sideways, just not the angle 2x4 you see on the front to back. Also, think of it this way, you will need some support to prevent a side to side, or front to back "fold". But, all you force (weight) is straigt down.

I will have pictures up this weekend!! More then 90% of my plumbing is done, and the system is full of RO/DI water. So, I plan on having water circulating this weekend!!

Good. The reason why I asked is because I din't see these sideways brace. I was looking for 2x4 braces (as from front to back).

Looking great... looks like you made some more progress in the last week since I saw it. Pictures look great.. but it looks even more impressive in person.

A few questions...

Why are you running the Seq pumps in series ?? I am not sure if I have ever seen that setup before...

Are your two Titan sumps bowing ??

How long did it take you to fill the tank with RO water ??

I was thinking the same thing. Have you talked to anybody about doing this? I can see a possible benefit for high head situations, but you don't have that. So what's up?

Also, how does the water get back to the tank from the other side of the room?

running pumps i n series won't give you more GPH especially if they are right next to each other. It would work if you are running them in high pressure situations such as having your one pump on one floor and the other on a seperate floor. In this case however is just a waste of energy.

i was wondering about the series running of the pumps too.

wow those are some sumps! the skimmers are HUGE too :D

hope to see it up and running soon
Eric

You call that a mess??? I can still see the floor!

It looks great. How did the testing go? Did you have enough BH (flow) between the Titans to match the flow of the Sequences?? Are you kicking any water back into the sump from the pumps to equalize levels?

You double the head pressure!

Very little - hardly noticable!

I had my R/O-DI running about 110 gallons a day, so about 10 days total!!
