Go Big OR Go Home! Construction of a 1000 gallon System!!

Hi,

I have one of those eye-stripe tangs. They are beautiful...assertive but not aggressive; mine keeps my Sohal tang in its place. When I bought it, its aka a Palani Tang. The list you have looks good; my only worry would be the powder blue tang...they seem to be easily stressed, and are not recommended for aquariums by one website I've visited.

3 purple tangs together, can it be done? Aren't they supose to fight each other to death when placed in the same tank?

Alex

I love the Naso's as well. But if it were me :D I would look into something like 3 Achilles and 2 Powder Browns in that tank. Just my opinion! :p

I love achiles!
It seems to me that we dont see enough of them in larger Reef tanks.

I have actually seen them school in tanks that had 2 or more. They school like yellow tangs do..

My tang list is'nt complete yet. I have been changing things around a lot, so it will go through a few iterations before I decide.

I definitly want to add an achilles and a orangeband..

Here is the list as of now, it will change slightly "again"! :D

1 Naso Blonde Tang, Male
1 Naso Blonde Tang, Female
1 Yellow Belly Blue Hippo Tang
1 Vlaminigi Tang
1 Sohal Tang
1 Powder Blue Tang
1 Sailfin (Deslardini) Tang
1 Achilles Tang
1 Small (Juvenile) Orangeband Tang
3 Small Yellow Tangs

maybe the 3 small puple tangs?!?!?!?!?

Still looks good to me.
I think the 3 purple tangs would look awsome. They would dprobalby school as well :D

tank looks very nice and is comming out great... a little 2 cents for you as i went through the same thing couple years back.. you might want to reconsidre the valangi and dussemire tang. as you know they grow very large... whilethat might not be a prlblmen now it will be soom ..even with your size tank...

i had both and by the way... they love to stir the sand on the bottom of the tank... this was a good enough reasone for me to catch them and get them out... if you have fine sand you will not be waiting for them to go large.. and the colors of thses tangs really dont get like your photos unless they are mature or when stressed...

by the way if you are wondering i had them in a large reef tank 600 plus gallons... the fine sand and stirring was the killer.... i know how fast they grow as i ended up giving the to ABT electronics which has a tank in the thousands in their store and they have grown quite large there.

good luck keep the phootos coming ...

:eek1: Geezzz I thought I had it bad ! You my friend are one dedicated reefer to have such a monster tank . Good luck with it ! I will be watching for more pics !

I am curious as to how much time per day one would have to spend working with a tank that size . . .

Its a labor of LOVE! So, the time doesn't matter!!!!:D

LOLOL Thats a good one !

For sure you have to be totally committed to reefing to have a setup like that . I am sure it is a sight to behold in person ! :eek2:

I think if you plan a system correctly, and automate it enough, you can go days without touching it except for feeding. And you could even automate that but I know most people dont like to.

Anyway, I think bstone is going in the right direction with this system. Of course it will probably take him months of getting it to the point where he doesnt have to touch it every day. But then he will have a beautiful, and huge, system to enjoy and probably not mess with too much. Of course, if he is anything like me, he just cant leave well enough alone and will always be trying to improve some part of the system. :D

Thanks for the comments!!!

You hit the nail on the head!!! WOW, I couldn't of said it any better. My system was designed so that I would have minimal involvement if I had to go away for a few days. But, when I am here even though it doesn't need attention, I am working on making it better, ot rweaking it!!!
