Going LED to T5. Grass is greener on the other side?

You're welcome. All of their fixtures are on the shelves. They will turn on the one you are interested in for you. Also, Hamilton rep/manager said they can customize the number of cords/channels on their fixtures, anywhere from 1 to 3. All depends on how many plugs you want to have for control.

They might have extended their sale which i think was in 10%-20% off range.
Their fixtures aren't as sexy or as widely used as ATI. However, the fact that you can pop by their office with any problems related to their light fixtures definitely made them a strong contender on my list. They are open to public during regular business hours.

That is great to know. You know I will ask, do you have a pic with the lights running in your tank?

You can get your ati worked on, either warranty or non warrant yor get your ati parts in same area. The distributor is there

okay my question is how do you aclimate your corals from led to t5 im pretty sure my t5 is putting out way more than my leds also my t5 is over my frag tank and my leds are over my display ill be moving over my 20+ head space invader to my frag tank and i dont want it to die because its getting to much light too quickly. my display is 2 feet deep and my frag tank is 11inches - any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

pro tip: basic math.

If your tank is shorter than 72" then T5 is reasonable but from 84" or longer then it will cost you close to $350 a year to change bulb.

okay did the math my t5 is a lil over 300 watts 54w per bulb but heres the thing i run my leds at 60% - and my t5 isnt dimmable so for now ive just left two bulbs on in a week i will add two more and the week after that it will be on full power and i hope i dont loose anything just sucks buying a 6 bulb and not using all 6

I know it's pricey but would anyone actually put those E5 bulbs in all of the reflectors? Curious if par/growth/color is the same or better than reg t5 bulbs.

I dont think anyone has tried it long enough to tell. Waiting on feedbacks too.

Dont count too much on shimmer. Beside kessil, nothing really shimmers that much

I run a daylight E5 in the middle of my 6x24. There is no shimmer from these bulbs as the led output is diffused through the tube.

As for results, hard to tell so far. However, I haven't noticed anything negative.

Thanks.
By the way, I neglected to give a major update. When this thread started I had planned on building a 48x24x20 tank. My plans changed and I ended up going with a standard 60 gallon tank for the time being. We'll see how things go with ATI Sunpower. If I miss shimmer too much, I might go with T5/LED or MH/T5 combo fixture, no DIY retrofits.

Nice! I welded up a bracket for my that I used to hang it. Hanging it from the ceiling wasn't an option.
