Gravel Vac w/ Filter Sack?

Myka

Reefing since '93
I want one of those little gravel vacs that have the attached filter sack/bag so that I can suck up detritus without doing a waterchange. The only ones I can find are cheap battery operated ones...that don't look very good. Are there any plug in ones? Or? What do you guys use?

I do water changes and have a good clean up crew.

I think I have seen a floor model recirculating gravel vac somewhere on line. Maybe at Dr Foster and Smith or Big Als. I do not know if the work well.

It would be my guess that their is no substitute for water changes and a good clean up crew.

I do have a good clean up crew, and I do waterchanges as well. It's the darn clean up crew that makes all the detritus (no fish in tank)! However, I also think there is no substitute for siphoning detritus! I want to siphon detritus more often than I want to do waterchanges. :)

stir it up with your power head and let the skimmer get it, you should have enough flow that it doesnt settle in the 1st place, but if you don't, sweep the rocks with a power head every once in a while..

I have my powerheads (2 Maxi Jet 1200s in my lil 33g) positioned so that they blast the detritus to the front of the tank where i can remove it. I do stir it up so the skimmer can get some, but there's still crap that won't blast into the water column. It's just unsightly is all. I want to suck it out instead of cloud my tank with the detritus. My LPS corals HATE the high flow, so I can't position the powerheads to the front at all.

are maxi 1200 only 295 gph i have 215gal tank i have 2 seido's one 800gph and 1100 gph in the back so u don't see them but i need something in front of the tank so i though something nicer because u will see it.
