I was study & working in Victoria, but did get chance to go to Great Barrier, i really regret about that mate

Thanks for posting the pics edr42.

We stayed on Magnetic (or "Maggie" ) Island just off Townsville 3 years ago and did our PADI courses at Pleasure Divers there. The couple of "real dives" we did before heading north were a trip out to Wheeler Reef and the Yongala - very memorable and superb diving destinations. Vis was 40m then too so your photos have brought all that experience back.

This was part of the sampling technique i used.

I think it's so cool that the coral in the third photo is a new colony. What's amazing is the process of how it got there.

Sorry for being absent, i've been ridiculously busy.
But, i am now a fully fledged PADI Scuba Instructor! (yay!)

To all of you who sent me PMs and are yet to hear back, sorry! I will get back to you as soon as i can get any sort of spare time, its just a bit mad over here at the moment.

I have many many more photos to share, we were even visited by 6 humpback whales 2 weeks ago, and manta rays as well.
Anyway, hang tight and i'll update as soon as i can.
