Green BTA kind of shady?

I got by Green BTA about 3 months ago and he was doing fine.Sat dead center of my tank right in between 2x250 watt radiums.enough light but not in the direct way of it.He stayed there for about the whole time. Then one day he decided to move behind the rock he was on and is turning a brownish color but still has green on the tips of the tenticles. He still opens and closes and does eat.although He does not take the food as aggressive as he used to.now he will let it go and I would try again and he would take it.atleast I think he does because its hard to see behind that rock.

Tank is up for about 8 months now.I run active carbon and rowaphos for phosphates.water perimeters are on point.Feeding silversides.

I haven't really seen them change colors that drastically before but I'm not an expert. The fact that it is still taking food has to be a positive sign. I would simply keep an eye on the situation. Anemone's typically move around when they are no longer happy with their current location. Has anything changed in the way of temperature, current or new live stock neighbors? Good luck.

No new tank mates and the ones he has dont bother him.Water temp in the morning about 78-79 right before the lights turn off 80-82.depending on the temp outside and how long I let my ac run.I live in south florida right now its in the 50's outside and tomorrow its in the 70's.

If you can't find any reason for the change, keep doing what your doing and hope for the best. If the mouth starts gapping for long periods of time it usually indicates an issue. Just remember if something does go wrong get it out of your tank before it disintegrates.

yup thanks for the input.it wasnt a over night change it was within weeks.regardless it happened.

I know it's kind of a bummer because that white/ green is so pretty. But it looks healthier now. I really love your aquascape!

Thanks for the replies and comments on the aquascape.its about 250 lbs of LR.I did a google search before I posted this thread and I found other people saying the nem is getting its right color.Sucks because it was just so damn nice,it was also about 8" round when fully open.and also the bubble tips have not come back but I also know that they dont always have the bubble tips.I guess I should just get it a buddy.I had 2 preculas and they didnt even go near it.I know that a maroon will most of the time, but any suggestions on other clowns that will host?thanks again for all you help guys.this is what makes RC the best.

I persuaded my oscellaris clowns to accept a BTA by putting them all together in a very small tank. It took about 3 days if I remember correctly. Then I put the anemone rock back in the main tank and was careful to add the fish close to the anemone. I use a clear container, so it's fairly easy to send the fish straight to it. That worked for me.

You might have good luck with a cinnamon or tomato accepting it as a host.

Good stuff,I found a cinnamon clown at the LFS and fell in love but I waited to long and he sold.I will do some shopping in the next week or so.will keep you updated on the health of my BTA and on the clowns I choose to get.

How long does the split process take?I have corals that split and multiplied a few times so I think I must be doing a few things right. That would be sweet!!

I'm not real sure on the time line for splitting. I've only had my RBTA split once. Anemones can look they are going to split for quite some time though.

nothing yet.I did a water change and everything in the tank looks happy.even the BTA looks a little happier.no split yet though.

Update no splitting happening here but still eating silversides.so I guess I am still in the clear of a dead BTA.Will update if anything.
