Very cool. I have had Haddonis for 9+ years now and none of mine (( currently have 4 )) have never done that.

From my understanding it could take some time for it to finally fall off.

Congrats.

that is amazing, congrats on that success. I have a green carpet as well and can only hope that one day it will split. has anyone else ever had that happen?

also, how long have you had it? any signs that it was going to split? etc.. all info would be greatly appreciated.

I had a Haddon's bud off a baby like that. I lost the baby when I tried to seperate it from the mother animal. I would suggest letting nature take it's course here... regardless of how long it might take to drop off on it's own.

I don't think this is a form of reproduction. I believe it is the result of an injury. In over 20 years I've never seen evidence of a bud like this producing a separate anemone. At least not with haddoni. I've heard several stories like Gary's above, though. I don't believe this bud will ever form a pedal disk and be able to survive on its own.

Elegance corals do something similar. If the oral disk is punctured, when it heals, it often forms a ring of tentacles around the wound. This looks like a "bud" or small elegance growing off of the coral.

Wow, thats a first....for me at least. thanks for sharing.
i had a green carpet anemone. mean green fish eating machine. had to cut it loose, around the 100 bucks mark.

thanks for all the kind comments. Don't worry i will be letting nature sort itself out here. I have mine in his own holding tank and it looks like he will be staying there awhile. ( the only other thing with him is his porcelin crab) I will grab some more pics later on tonight.

Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing - I didn't know that was possible. I'll be looking for updates as well.
