Green Clown Goby

Grizzled & Cynical
My LFS has a few of these fish. I have never kept them before. LA has them as reef safe yet potential SPS nippers. Could somebody share their experiences with these fish please.

i have a yellow not a green.
i have also not had any problem with him or the one before nibbling on any corals.
they are great fish. very friendly. mine begs for food and mostly hangs out on the glass. never hides even when my hand is in in the tank or I'm siphoning

but
they can be a pain to get to eat. make sure you find one that does not have a pinched belly. if possible, ask to see them eat and choose one that eats the food.
they also need good quality food. otherwise they get these skin ulcers. I've seen it a few times. I feed mine a both flake and a prepared frozen food called limpits. you can use cyclopeze to get them to start eating sometimes, but they are fussy and do sometimes starve.

My yellow perched on monti's, looking harmless at first, but then he started nipping as most eventually do.
I do not consider them reef safe.

I have one along with a yellow in my nano...it's not as aggressive in it's behavior or eating as the yellow.... and yes it does perch on SPS and may irratate them, but I never seen it nipping.

I've had mine (green and red) for over a year now. So far no issues. It just perches in the branches.

I have 1 in my 120. I put him in about a year ago. He was tiny and quickly disappeared. I figured he had died. About 6 mos ago I found him perched in an acro colony. Now that I know where he likes to hide I can usually find him. He doesn't seem to bother the coral. I've never seen him eat or swim out in the open. IMO he would be neat in a very small tank, but quickly disappears in a larger one.

Never had an issue with them nipping at anything. biggest probem you may have is the fact they like to perch on the corals all the time and in a big tank they are hardly ever seen. Beyond that they are cool fish. All mine have always been slow eaters and other fish will grab the food before they will.

that's funny, because mine eats first and bump other fish out of the way. he is the biggest pig

guess, it just shows that every fish is different

My wife ordered me one, becuase it was a "cute little guys". That "cute" little BA$@ed took out every SPS I had. It was only a 54g with a hand full of SPS.

I hated that guy!
