griss' Tank Upgrade Thread

Okay, plumbing is done. I’ll likely wait until next weekend to start filling it since I’ll be working in the office all week. I don’t want to fill and not be able to monitor for leaks.

To do list:
- Fill tank
- Start return pump
- Get heaters (2 300w) going
- Add salt
- Order/build T-Slot light frame
- Install lights
- Adjust water parameters
- Move livestock from old tank
- move RODI and build water mixing storage
- Breakdown & sell old tank
- Phase 2 of basement finish can then begin
- Set up frag tank

I’m still up in the air about doing a remote fuge. I’m going to use the fuge portion of the sump as a cryptic sponge area.

Correction, my heaters are (1) 300w and (1) 500w.

I like the new scape.

We got about 15” of here, but with the drifting, it’s not unusual to find areas 24”+ as your walking.

Now we’re under extreme cold warnings the rest of the week with lows down to -8 and windchills -20+

only took me a little over 4 years to start filling with RODI.😂🤣

With the temps we’re having, the RODI is producing slowly even with the booster pump.

I turned off the RODI before going to bed last night. In retrospect, I should not have. With this cold weather the unit is producing water very slowly even with the booster pump.

As expected, with the cold temps, the RODI is producing slowly.

Im getting antsy so, I built a crappy light frame and threw 2 Euroquatics A1’s on it. Final lighting will be 3 A1Ps (150w) and 2 A1’s (95w) as it’s going to be mostly and Acro tank. Any feedback on the proposed lighting?

I also ordered the T-Slot for the lighting mount from Tnutz yesterday. After a bit of discussion, decision was made to not ceiling or wall mount. I’ll just make a moveable frame for it.

Getting close to water in the overflow, which will lead to the sump starting to fill. In other words, almost time to test my PVC work😳
