Sorry not trying to hijack the thread but does H. magnifica bud as well because that looks exactly like what is happening to my mag? Congratulations with your crispa!

They can but mostly seen spliting!But not many spilt and live in the home aquarium!Only the best of the aquariums are able to support these type of anemones!I had one for a year moved it and the salinity changed by 2 points and I lost it!Shows how sinsitive these animals are!

I literally had to rub my eyes to make sure the bud was there :eek2:

All anemones in that tank have been getting extra food lately thanks to the resident breeding pair of clowns.

I hope you're right, and it is indeed budding a new anemone. I doubt it though. I've seen Elegance and haddoni do that. I've never seen it turn into another individual. I've never heard of crispa reproducing in this way either. It's probably just the way it healed from a wound. I hope you can keep us posted though. If it forms a pedal disk and detaches this will be something for the science books.

Interesting. Did you try feeding one of those buds to see what happens?

Feeding that thing mostly 400w of light Occasional pieces of shrimp, mysis that are flying by.

Fed the larger bud with cyclopeeze, did not seem that there was a mouth there (yet), but tentacles are sticky.

Buds are found only on the side that rubs against the rocks. Anemone is 16" or more across.

Wow, very interesting!! Interesting that it's only the side that touches the rock, could the rock be abrasive?

Tempted to try cutting one off ??? I'd be, but I'd also be too chicken to follow through on it.
