Checked my alk too while I was out there and it is reading a bit higher than it normally would in the house.....no clue if its a coincidence but thought it was interesting nonetheless.

He ate this morning and looks bunchy a few hrs afterwards. Mouth is nice and tight and he looks fluffy if that makes any sense

What time of day did you test when you got the 8.0? Need to do the outside test at the same time -- the tank's pH will fluctuate over the course of the day -- depending on when your lights come on, and how you run the lights over your fuge --- if you have one.

Lights are on 24/7 on both of the fuges

See the point on testing at the same time though

will have to recheck the numbers over the next 2 days to get it right.

The meter is ready to be calibrated so that should make it a bit easier to test.

My ph test kit is crappy but havent found anyone who makes a good one
