Has anyone kept goldenhead sleeper gobies long term?

There are a pair of goldenhead sleeper gobies at my LFS that I'd like to get. I want efficient sand-sifters but I have heard that these don't do well long-term. Like they clean the sand bed of pretty much everything then die. They are eating prepared foods at the store. Any experience with people keeping these for six months or longer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

had mine for about eight months, but I hated him. unlike most of the other sleeper gobies they will take a mouth full and then go up into the water column and spread it around over all the rocks/corals.

I have mine for practically 2 years now :)

Mine was sandsifting a lot when I first got him but now he's use to eat prepared food and I think he prefer much more mysis, pellet and etc. then what he find sand sifting the sand. He still does it, but not nearly as much as he used to. If you like them and they are eating prepared food it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Mine never took a mouthful and released it going to the top ... maybe not never but I don't remember seeing him doing that. Now actually he released it really close to the sandbed maybe .5" which is really great :P Not sure if it's because of the high flow ?!?

Thanks guys for the input. I will have the LFS continue to hold them and if they continue to eat prepared foods and look healthy I'll pick them up.
