Hello Fellow Wyomingnites

Scopus Tang

New member
I apologize for failing to recognize that Wyoming had its very own club forum; under the title of Big Country - although I suppose that fits.

Just thought I would send out a general howdy to everyone.

I'm from Sheridan, and we have a semi-organized group of salt water enthusiasts that get together very informally. We try to get around and see everyone's tank when we have a chance, but with busy schedules and such, it's pretty tough to do. Our last get together was last March.

Be nice to know who all on this forum is from Wyoming, and what you are all interested in. I'm primarily interested in zoas, but keep a few softies, LPS, and SPS as well.

Nice to know that I'm not the only active one here, it would be nice to get this forum up on it's feet. Please inform your other Wyomingnites that it's here, it would be nice to get to know them. and maybe make a trip to Sheridan one of these days.

Interesting; Surely you and I can't be the only two on this forum from the Wyoming/Montana area - what other states are included in "Big Country Reef Society"? I'll be sure and let the locals know that we have our own area here on RC. And maybe one of us will make it down to Cheyenne one of these days. I know I get through there occassionaly.

There's a few from wyoming that pop on from time to time but it's rare to have a lot of us on at the same time. (hopefully that will change) I believe this forum is for Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and the Dakota's.

Do you have any pictures of your tank?

If your ever in the area let me know.

Good to know. I have pictures of the tank, but usually do just pictures of whats in it, as my tank is always a disaster - far too many corals for such a small tank (or so everyone keeps telling me). I'm positive that I can find a place to put everything, if I just had the time :fun2:. It actually just passed its second birthday in November, and I used all man-made rock.

I recently posted a few paly/zoa shots in this thread;
http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1754709

And a few of my fish shots are in this thread;

I have several non-updated tank threads on some of the forums I visit more frequently than this one, but here is a current picture of my 65gal tank;

How about you, any pictures of your tank or do you have a thread going on here somewhere?

I'll be sure and let you know when I get down to Cheyenne again, you be sure and let me know if you're ever coming up, and I'll hook you up with a tour of the local reefs.

I have a build thread (with tons of pics)
SLP build thread

And here are some from this morning when the actinics were on:

I have a few medium size SPS colonies but most of them are frags. I'm also slowly breaking down my 72 that had a bunch of zoas in but they are almost all gone. I had a RBTA split in there so I'm waiting for it to heal and then tear it all the way down.

Nice set-up. I have a couple buddies up here who are really into SPS, they would enjoy talking to you and comparing notes. One has a 75gallon and the other has a 210gallon. Unfortunately, I don't have any FTS shots of their tanks on hand.

I'll check out your thread.

That would be great, let me know what you think. It's funny that I have gotten about 4 PM's from people in wyoming in the last couple days, I wounder if you had anything to do with that.

I don't think so, but if you're getting some contacts from Wyomingnites, send em my way as well will you? I'd like to hook up with some others that are at least semi-local.

Well there's Mr.Biggs, he's up in Wheatland building a huge 1200 gal tank.

studcoop and jelwyoming is somewhat close to you, over in Gillette, studcoop was passing through Cheyenne a few weeks ago and stopped in for a bit. He says that there's a pretty good reefing scene there.

dogstar74 (Aaron) lives in Wy, not sure but i think he's up in your area as well.

DC (Debi) one of the mods lives in western Wy.

fasturtle30 (George) lives here in Cheyenne.

mcarver is from Gellette Wy as well.

mef_rn98 is over in Larmie
I know that there are more but these are the ones that I have run into while being on RC.

Hhhhmmm, there was an Aaron that lived fairly close, but I think he moved, don't know if he's still around or not - wonder if he is dogstar. Thanks, you may have seen posts by straight8, he's from here in Sheridan as well.

I'm here. I just tend to use a different site more often than this one. I just got my tank back up and going in oct. I had to tear it down due to a pending house move and then things didn't pan out. I will try to take some updated pics but most of my sps are twigs right now. I lost most of my colonies. Things are getting up and running one sysem at a time. I just got my calcium reactor dialed in so things should really take off again. I have purple bonsai, pink lemonade, pink limeade, oregon blue tort, cali tort, a unnamed quad color, marshall island yellow fuzzy, copps vessuvios, tyreee rainbow monti, tyree sunset monti, tyree green plype toadstool, tyree strawberry fields,. I think that most of them. The non tyree are ora. To lazy to type that over and over. lol. If someone is looking to trade let me know. I should be ready in a couple of months. Anyhow randy mentioned that there were some folks on here so I guess I will start checking in. Later all. happy reefing and LONG LIVE THE CREEPS!

Where do you live?

I met another one today that lives here in cheyenne. jp634, I went over and checked out his tank, he has a nice 75 gallon set up, it's funny that it has taken almost a year and now everyone's coming out of the wood work. and now I have to leave in a few months!!!

Randy, I was going through my junkmail and almost deleted your emails. Wow you have a lot of different zoas. it's amazing all the different colors. And you're right you photo skills got tons better. what kind of camera are you using?

Tim,
I would love to see some pictures or your "twigs"

I'll give it a run. I dont have a nice macro lens like Randy so getting that close up look is a little harder. Got to get me a macro. lol

Be cool if we could get a network hooked up and do some semi-local trading of frags; shipping stuff in for $65 shipping on top of cost of corals adds up pretty quick.

Thanks Jimmy. Using Canon Rebel XLT, got a new macro lens for my anniversery this past summer - still trying to get everything figured out with it, but it makes those close-ups pretty incredible.

Give me a call Tim, I'll come over and take some shots - I'm off now through January 4.
