HELP!!! Internet Adapter & U-Verse wireless connection?!?!

Okay, So i went to best buy and bought a Net-gear Wireless Adapter WNCE3001. I came home and wanted to set it up using my Laptop. It took about 10 minutes but I got the adapter hooked up and was receiving signal no problem!

At this time I had my laptop connected, the adapter connected, a TV in my bedroom on and a tv in my living room on. I hooked up the Apex to the adapter using the ethernet cable, I was able to get to the dashboard of the Apex, but as soon as I clicked on anything both of my wireless cable boxes(living room and bedroom) lost connection and my internet on my laptop loses connection.

I have been told by friends this has to do with the adapters IP address conflicting with other items on the same IP address?! After unplugging, resetting, pulling plugs, hooking up USBs,Ethernet cables doing things in different orders I could not get this thing working to save my life!!

I called Net-gear 24 hour support which is in India of all places, the first customer service rep had me plug and unplug and reset, pretty much all of the same things I told him I already have done. He was about to have me hook the laptop straight to the router so he could remote access but then asked me what I am trying to hook up, I told him the Apex and he transferred me, so after 2.5 hours of doing the exact same thing with the next guy and getting no where, his final answer was it has to do with my internet connection and hung up!!

So as you can see my frustration at this point, I have never had a problem before with tvs, internet or any of my U-verse services . . . .

IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN WALK ME THROUGH SETTING THIS UP, I WOULD BE FOREVER GRATEFUL!!!!

thanks in advance!

I would log into your DLS router and verify which IP address's are being used while the netgear adapter is not hooked up. You may need to reboot any devices like your cable boxes so they get a new IP address. Note all used IP addresses. From there, choose an IP address that it not being used. Assuming your cable box is using an IP address of 192.168.1.50, I would set that to a static IP instead of automatic. Then I would set the netgear to static as well and use an IP address of 192.168.1.75

I have 15 or more devices (not including wireless devices) on my network ranging from my apex to 4 sat receivers, PS3, XBOX, Sling Player, 3 computers etc. All of those IP addresses are set to static and are at the high range of my IP address. All of my static IP's start at 192.168.1.150 and go from there (151,152,153,154...) Wireless devices such as laptops, iphones, iPads etc remain automatic.

If I were you, I would set everything up that you can with a static IP and you should be fine.

Thanks for the reply!!!

That does sound like what I need to do although I have no idea how to even go about doing that. When I signed into the router it gave me a range of IP addresses, and if I go to change anything it starts asking for sub-masks,gateways.

Do you have ATT Uverse?

Im sorry for not understanding and I wish I was more computer literate although I did not think that the Apex was going to be this difficult to set up, I have had it for a week and everyday have spent hours on hours trying to figure it out . . .

Have you downloaded the "Comprehensive Reference Manual" from Neptune's site and followed the steps there? There's a section specifically about U-verse's 2Wire router.

Also, did you get the Apex set up wired before switching to the wireless connection? If not, you should - it'll make life much easier. Then once you get things set up and accessible, add in the Netgear device.

I have the CRM downloaded . . .I am going to reset everything when I get home and start all over and see what happens, I will make sure to set up the Apex wired first, I hope this works this time around as I have no idea what else I could do...

Thanks
