Help needed! Clown with open sore

I just noticed one of my black occelaris clowns has an open wound on one side of its body. Can anyone help me determine treatment, if any?

Both clowns and a whitetail bristletooth tang are currently in QT (55g) being treated with the second round of prazipro. The second dose was just added last night after about a 25% water change. They have been in QT now for almost 2 weeks without any signs of disease and have all been eating well.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just fed some mysis and all are eating well except the clown with the sore. Is this a bacterial infection?

I have no idea how it got the sore. I don't know if the other clown got at it or if possibly the tang did, but I really haven't noticed any aggression since they've all been together in QT for the last 2 weeks.

What type of antibiotics would you recommend?

A reddish bordered patch like that could also be an uronema infection.
I was wondering that also. Like I said, I just noticed the sore today, but it's possible it's been there for awhile and I didn't notice it. Some advice I got from a LFS was to just keep treating with prazipro and let it run its course. They didn't think it was bacterial since no cloudiness around the perimeter.

If it is uronema, how do I treat? I thought I had read CP was a good choice, which I have (but it's from ebay, so I don't know how pure it is).

I should add the clowns came from an established reef in which they lived for a couple years without issue. But it wasn't my system, so I can't say for certain that it was a healthy system.

I would get ich shield powder. I used the crap from ebay and lost 3500$ worth of fish from secondary infections so I would steer clear of that stuff

I think I read about your experience with the eBay stuff in the CP primer. I'll definitely steer clear.

Any advice after using the ick shield?

Well, yesterday I noticed another vertical split in the skin of the same clown but this cut is up near the dorsal fin. I took the advice of a local reefer who has a couple of very healthy 210's and I added Melafix/Pimafix along with Kanaplex and Focus added to some frozen.

The clown didn't really eat much yesterday (he would take pieces of food in but spit them right out). Today he's eating some and the cuts/sores haven't gotten any worse or any new developed. So we'll see what happens over the next couple of days. I'm hoping everyone stays stable until this second round of prazipro is done so that I can start skimming and cleaning up the water a bit. I've been doing 10 gallon water changes (on a 55) for the past few days but that's getting old.

Another good treatment is tea tree oil. It's a great antibiotic. Catch the fish, remove from the water, dab a Qtip with tea tree oil on the wound and area. The sore will turn white but will heal in a week. It's an old koi keepers trick but works every time

Actually, this is what I used (as Pimafix - which contains tea tree oil) and the wounds are healing nicely now.

The day after I started dosing the Pimafix, the clown was eating much better. Now he's eating voraciously. I also used some Focus and Kanaplex in some frozen food along with garlic guard and fed that for about 4-5 days. So that may have been a factor as well.
