hiding the wave box

Hi Roger,

I'm currently contracting out for a custom acrylic tank and am wondering if there is a way to incorporate a wavebox into the design so it won't be visible inside the tank once everything is set up.

I vaguely remember someone having a tank built where the wavebox was hidden inside something similar to an overflow.

Without having one in front of me it's difficult for me to visualize, but couldn't a tank manufacturer construct an acrylic box of matching size during the construction?

Yes, it costs more because the combines cost of a 6200 Stream and a 6091 wave controller is higher than for the complete wavebox. I would try to run a search and see what you turn up as I have never done it and don't have any advice beyond saying it is possible.

I have often thought about this and a solution you might consider is putting a false side on the tank after its built that is the 4 inches or so deep that a wavebox is. Simply put the false side in front of the wavebox with a cut out for the wavebox's pump. This false side would have to have some small holes drilled in it to allow water through it and into the wavebox but I think if it accomadated the H2o inflow and outflow of the wavebox that it would be a relatively low cost solution that should work.

The drawback of this is that you would lose 4 inches of (usable) space in a tank's side.

Do you think this would work Roger?

And yes James, that is what I am talking about. I would have a hidden acrylic box made to the same specs on the other side of the tank end. The pump and controller I would use from the Wavebox, just not the box itself.

The only thing visible on the end of my tank would be the water inlets/outlets which would go a long way toward keeping the equipment clean and free of coralline.

I have a pair of 6000's now and they (along with their magnets) are completely encrusted with the purple stuff.
