history of lunar's reef

Can you describe your quarantine process and philosophy for us please? You would not want to risk introducing any pests at this point I would guess.

I do what probably everybody does - bathing new coral in a commercially available dip. I use CoralRx. I don't have any quarantine tank setup. Moreover I inspect every coral carefully, look at its base, under branches, etc. That's all.

Beautiful tank Krzysztof. If you have a 36' 8 bulb ati t5/led hybrid system what would you bulb choice be. I just order this and am lost about bulb choice. Thanks for your advice.

Hi,
Congratulations for your beautifull tank.
I have some questions for you:
What brand of bio-pellets and in what relation (pellets per ltr) are you using them?
do you have any pictures of your aquascaping at the beginning without any corals?
Just want to know how did you arrange the rock to place that quantity and variety of corals.

Thanks !!

Hi Krzysztof,
Your tank has been my favorite, you mentioned Fauna Marin Color Elements I'm very interested, how would you evaluate it, can you tell me it's method of use and dosage, because in China can not buy, I want my friends to help me to buy some from the US.

Lunar,
I read your thread third time...... I did not find any single picture of your Sump and filtration system. I hope you don't mind to share with us....:)

I just love this tank. Look at the pictures frequently. I've never seen such spectacular colors...bravo!!!!

How do you find the longevity of the PS tubes? I've seen some evidence, anecdotal perhaps, but what interval do you typically replace your bulbs at?

Hi Krzysztof, can you share with us some thoughts and impressions (why not few of those beautiful photos ;) from PS Diuna fixture and new tubes three months after? I'm really curios. Thanks for inspiration.

Hi krystof after 5 + years of zeovit I am finally changing to bio pellets. Any advise in the change over? Also have you found any benefit over recirc reactor vs a standard one?

Thanks

Thanks a lot.
Sorry, Patrick, I'm late. You already bought the bulbs for sure. Perhaps, it's better because I had felt responsible unless you would have liked my choice. Anyway, sorry.

I have been using All in one biopellets from Reef Interests (the Netherlands) since 1 May, 2014. I put 2 liters of biopellets into the reactor and total water volume is about 750L. However I don't recommend such an amount of the pellets in the beginning, my system has been adjusted to pellets for years. According to a manufacturer's prescription you should use 50-200ml per 100Lwater. In my opinion, the less the better when you start using pellets.
Sorry, I don't have any photos of my aquascaping without corals, I didn't think that it might be interesting for anybody.

TS : what is the reactor that you are using with the all in one bio pellets?

I'm using the bigger one from the photo.

I like FM color elements, they increase coral coloration significantly. I dose 10ml once per week on the average. You don't have to add the same amount from each bottle, you can decide what color you need improve. For example green/blue complex is used by me less.

Wow, third time? You're very patient :hmm5: I don't have any up-to-date picture but I promise .... next time.

Thank you, I'm happy you like it.

I replace my bulbs every six months, now it's too early to evaluate the longevity of PS tubes.

The design of this lamp is very impressive. I like that there are 4 channels for tubes, there's a perfect LED moon light and you can regulate its intensity, an active cooling system is very noiseless. These are my impressions now, more in the future.

ryanrid, everything depends what results you have with zeovit. If your tank is in a good condition, I can't see any problem. You can use all in one biopellets and at the same time remove the zeolites partially. You can still use different KZ products if you like them. You should only avoid zeostart 3.
There is a big difference - you can adjust an outflow from a recirculating reactor depending on the level of NO3 and PO4 in your tank.

Ufff ... I worked very hard to write all the sentences in English and I'm exhausted.

Beautiful video and soundtrack Kryzsztof!

I just have couple of questiona: You use Fauna Marin Activated Carbon: How much do you use, how often you replace this? Do you run the Activated Carbon in a reactor or in filter sock?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply appreciate it.

Nice update also love the vid.

Thank you, ryanrid.

Great video... my jaw is still hanging open!

Thanks, overexposed.

Not so much, about 250g, I replace it every three weeks. I keep it in a mesh bag.

Fantastic video update :)

Talk about rich in colours.

Thanks a lot, Rega.

Krzysztof,

Long term admirer of your tanks, back to an old issue of coral magazine where it was featured (think it still had a refugium at that point).

Your colors are just so spot on. I've never seen yellow that sharp on any live coral (that wasn't dyed).

I use Zeovit for filtration but have recently switched my trace elements over to Fauna Marin balling, hoping to get a little more robust coloration. Hopefully my tank will be as vibrant as yours!

Hi Krzysztof,
i have read your thread over and over. I believe you have the best tank i have seen! i am in the process of upgrading my current 90 gallon to a 200 gallon using your tank as inspiration. I will be running all in one biopellets in a recirculating reactor and bacteria dosing along with it. on my current set up i use fauna marin balling lite with their trace elements mixed into each canister. I believe you use this same method but please correct me if i am wrong. I also see that you use the fauna marin color elements. Do you dose the color elements instead of the trace 1,2,3 or are you dosing color elements in addition to trace 1,2,3?
are you still feeding reef pearls to your corals
This thread and tank are fantastic! A great inspiration and resource for all reefers.
Mike
