How rare is this?

Awesome thread maybe one of the best!! I wish we can do this near our shoreline.:eek2:

We found this piece of Duncan and decided to "rescue" it as it was a bit battered.

Lying nearby was this large colony. Tossed around by the large tides and bad weather. We left it as it was upside down. You can see the polyps around the sides starting to turn up to the light.

I might have missed this already in the thread, but do you see many clams in your area? And do you do any QT to try to avoid pests getting in your reef?

I have previously said that we do not have clams in our area.

But on the weekend I was told that there are clams in a certain area were we sometimes go. Will ahve to ask our collecting mate to check it out the next time he is in the area.

I personally do not quarantine any of my collecting as I do not have any space to do so and I only take frags.

Fresh LR does bring in the odd mantis and crab though.

I love to see pictures of wild clams in your area.

Paranoid?

Welcome, ya' Noob! Time to stick your big toe in the water.... There's nothing to fear (Once your tank cycles....)

This is a really cool color. What is it? Some type of softie. I wish I could have a piece of that. You could sell some of this stuff. I imagine you quarantine everything b4 you put it in your tank. Lots of nasties out there.

Cool fluorescent growth.

This thread is fantastic. I found this thread (and website) searching for clown fish pictures and now i joined. Thanks for posting pics of stuff we can only dream about over here in the states!

We should be out sometime next month for a night time session.

It will be at 2am though. But luckily it is during a long weekend.
