How rare is this?

That is crazy awesome to get to see all of that great diversity. It would be so hard not to take a few of those home.

Time for a small update me thinks for the sponge aficionados out there.

I have been doing a lot of fishing lately and these make a stark contrast to the surrounding environment.

This is a really good thread, the sheer amount of life in the tide pools is outstanding! You could not say or show enough, excellent thread.

Discovered this thread at midnight right as I was about to go to sleep. It is now almost 3 a.m... oops. Amazing thread! Thanks for sharing!!!

I made it

I made it

I made it 51 pages straight through in one setting. Thank you so very much looking forward to more beautiful pictures.:fish1:

Seeing all this out of water for probably many hours is not making me worry about my corals during a water change..... but on a serious note its nice that you bring us along your journey and your home to see this part of the reef from this prospective.

Looks like Ill definately be going to visit Darwin next year. Seems like July, August is the time to visit. Best for low tides. Can you conform that Lewy.
Just remember guys not all of Australia is like where Lewy lives.
A lot of people who live in Australia would struggle to live up in Darwin or Northern Queensland or the upper half of western Australia. The humidity is quiet high.
I personally think you guys in America are spoiled with the quality of corals you get from all regions all over the world.
Corals over here are very pricey, especialy premium pieces. Your blue, purple, pink etc gigs go from $2200 + for one anemone. So there very pricey if you can get one. Greens are roughly around $300+.
Browns are a lot cheaper.
We aren't allowed to import any corals or inverts so we really rely on what the collects ship to our lfs. Inverts are very pricey to, cleaner shrimp or blood shrimp are normally $100+ for one shrimp. Average price is $150 to $180 a shrimp.
Keep posting those pics, Ill definately be visiting in the new year.

Ish,

i might shove an anemone up my ARS* if i ever visit. seems more profitable than drugs.

Ok this may have been covered somewhere in the 51 pages but I haven't went through all yet. Can you please share how you are allowed out on the reefs? I know you walk out but is it against the law (I thought reefs were protected) (I know they are everywhere), Also how are you allowed to just simply collect frags for yourself? If I tried that in the keys and got caught (well I would learn not to drop the soap real fast). And we have boring bland "coral".
